Duplos on a Lego table?

My mom just got DS a Lego table from her room at school because they are moving to a new building and don't need the table. He's only 2.5 so probably a little small for Legos? Can you use Duplos on a Lego table? I'm guessing the Duplos won't stay since they are bigger but thought I'd ask. DS is playing with the Legos that came with the table ok, but I thought Duplos would be better? Any suggestions/thoughts?
