I have a 5 month old, and I love love love my Indie but I'm looking for an umbrella stroller-The carseat is just getting too heavy to lug with the snap n go. I thought I was set on the 2011 G-luxe, but now I have come across the cybex onyx and I think I may have changed my mind. But it's so much mroe than the G-luxe...is it worth it? The canopy seriously looks amazing, and aside from a great recline, I think the canopy is most important to me.
So G-luxe or Onyx? And where can I get a good deal?

Both the onyx and the g-luxe are GREAT strollers but quite different. Basically, what are your priorities? full recline? lightest weight possible? standing fold? Some of the nicer BRU carry the onyx so I'd go check it out if possible.

I got my 2011 cybex onyx from someone on the stroller swap group. I love it (as a fully-featured umbrella stroller.). The canopy is absolutely amazing, and I love the one-handed recline mechanism. I was debating between those two as well, but went with the cybex because I really needed something that wasn't tippy. Both have great canopies, nicely padded seats, extended leg rests, and nice reclines. The main difference for me was lighter and tippy vs. heavier and not tippy.

OP here-this stroller is basically going to live in my car to be used for errands and quick in and out trips. This will also be our stroller used for air travel which really does not happen that often. I know the onyx is heavier, but the canopy and recline mechanism are looking really great to me. It seems that seat comfort is about equal. I guess I will have to try them out.

If you think you will be reclining the stroller frequently, definitely get the onyx over the g-luxe. The onyx is beyond easy and the g-luxe is a PITB and quite flimsy. Mine broke as well as one of my friends. Uppa replaced it but still, not something you'd want to use super often.

I just flew with my onyx and it worked great. I do love the one-handed recline mechanism. DS naps in the stroller, so that was important for me. The canopy is simply amazing!!! We had it at the zoo (when we were traveling), and it was sunny that day, so it was nice to keep DS out of the sun (especially when we was napping.)

If you aren't in a rush, mamabargains.com has Cybexes every so often. You could keep an eye out for them.

The Onyx would be perfect for what you need. Never had the G-Luxe, so can't comment on that one.

I just got my Callisto and I love, love, love it! In fact, I'm thinking I may have gone overkill and could have done just fine with the Onyx. That canopy is exactly as described, Super!

I bought mine from http://www.anbbaby.com/Cybex-Onyx-Strollers-s/310.htm If you're ok with buying the 2010 model you can get an additional 20% off which would make it $175.96 with free shipping.

What are the differences between the 2010 and 2011 models?

The 2010 doesnt have the awesome super canopy.

Does the 2010 canopy ratchet forward? My 2009 callisto does not.

I have a 2010 Onyx and the canopy does not ratchet forward. So if you really want the awesome canopy, you'll have to go with the 2011.

Ahh. So much for getting one on clearance then, since the canopy is a must for me!

The canopy is really nice, I don't think you'll kick yourself for going for a super awesome canopy. :)

Yeah, I definitely want the 2011 with the super canopy. I am not in a rush, as I am still using the bucket seat for a little longer. If anyone sees any good deals in the next few months, please post them here!
TIA!

Do the Cybex's sit upright or a bit reclined? My DD hated the Quest b/c it kept her reclined a bit and I think my son is going to be the same way..
