Going along with my "I need stain for our playset" thread, the playset has a bucket swing for babies, but it has no back to it, only a fabric strap that buckles across the back and that feels unsafe to me for 15 month old DS, so I'm looking for an outdoor swing for babies/toddlers that we can hook up to the Rainbow playset that will be safe for him now and as he grows. He's 15 mos. and just shy of 20 lbs. Many of the swings that I saw on Amazon included reviews that talked about the swings flipping over all of a sudden if the child leaned too far forward or backward and upset the balance of it. That made me terrified so now I'm afraid to put him in the swing that it came with AND afraid to buy the wrong replacement (help!)

We have had this one since Boo was very little, and it works GREAT.

We used the same one with DS. Never had a problem with it.

I actually just ordered this one from Amazon on Friday- it was the only one I found that goes to 48 months. DD is already 2.5 so I didnt want to get one that only goes to 36 months. You might want to keep that in mind when deciding!

are you using the half-bucket swing backwards?
We have the Little Tikes swing plus an older LT airplane swing that's a favorite for all the kids.

We also used this one with our Rainbow swingset. It worked well. You can buy a specific bucket swing from Rainbow, but I never wanted to spend the money when I felt like the LT one worked fine. I will say that DS2 hasn't used it since last year - now he only wants to swing in a regular sling swing or the tire swing.

I just ordered a swing set that will come with one bucket seat but I will need two, I was planning to buy I think the Little Tikes one, which is what most people seem to have on their swing sets. My 3yos fit in it just fine. The buckets ones are so expensive and they aren't any more fun. :)

Thanks all. We got him the LT one and I hung it up on the swing set yesterday. He loves it, although he does tend to try to (and succeed at) wiggling his arms out from under the yellow straps, so we have to watch him and reposition his arms if he does that. The straps seem a little widely placed as far as where they attach to the T-bar which allows him to do that. I'm sure as he grows it won't be as much of an issue. Thanks for the recommendations!

It sounds like you found a soultion but dont get rid of the other swing you had. We used the LT swing with my first DD which worked great but then my younger DD just hated it but loved the bucket swings at the playgroung so we bought a 1/2 bucket (which sound like what you had). I think, like a PP said, you are using it backwards. The strap goes over the lap. They are designed for maybe age 2 and up - we used it a bit younger but wanted to buy the 1/2 bucket because given the price of those swings we knew we'd get a lot more use out of it. We also adjusted hooks so the girls can swap out for the sling swing when we have more older kids over but even the 8 year olds have no problem really with the 1/2 bucket swing.
If you dont like it you can propably get a good price for it on Craigs list.
