I am making some 80's retro braided barrettes with dd1 and I don't want to go running around town to find these clips. Seen them lately?

I don't know if anywhere still carries them, but I totally remember those ribbon braided barrettes from when I was in elementary school! Weaving of two ribbon colors, right? Good luck in finding the barrettes!

Online, here are some similar:

Yep! Dds are so excited so I'm hoping to find them tomorrow locally. Thanks for the links, though!

I just got some at Walgreens. I think it was the same pack the pp linked to first.

Can someone link me to a pic of the finished product? It sounds like something I might want to try. Or maybe OP could show pics when she is finished?:love-retry: Love projects that can be so useful...hair clips are always great!

ETA: I guess you guys are talking about these: http://weefolkart.com/?q=node/450 ? I do remember them now!

Those are the clips except she used grosgrain and I chose satin. I have made two so far...hot pink and green and yellow and hot pink. They are so cute. I actually followed the tutorial from this site...http://remarkablydomestic.com/2010/05/13/remember-these-80s-braided-ribbon-barrettes/

Oooohhhh, now I need to try a few! I used to have them on snap-barrettes, because my hair is so thin. Will try it with the snap-barrettes for DD!

One of my grammar school friends' moms used to make these - she taught a bunch of us how during a fall campout that got rained out during our 1st or 2nd year of Junior Girl Scouts.

I still have a box in a closet on my 3rd floor with supplies for these things. I made up a few in pink & white and sold them for a breast cancer fundraiser.

I use those tri-cornered beads in complementary colors for the ends of the tails, but definitely love the idea of using cool buttons instead.
