So when did your child stop using a "fist grip" on the fork and move to a more polite style?

My DS is 5 and still has trouble and needs constant reminding. I guess I'm trying to see if he's normal or I haven't been consistent enough with teaching.

I think as a young 4 yo. DS2 is 3 and isn't quite there yet.

Actually my younger DD (4.75) is better with this than my older DD (almost 10). But older DD has always had some fine motor issues.

Most children do it by age four. DD1 has been doing it for a while and turns three this month.
