After realizing that I don't have *any* suitable dresses for an upcoming wedding, I ran out today and bought this dress.

My question is this:

What sort of necklace can I wear with it? Inexpensive ideas would be a plus, as I am not a big necklace wearer.

Also, I'll be wearing some slingback shoes (I think that's what they are called - open-toed heels with a strap in the back.) What should I wear on my legs? I'm kinda clueless when it comes to what to wear/not to wear on my legs. When I tried on the dress, I wasn't really pleased with the skin on my legs. Usually, I'm lazy and just go bare, but I'm thinking that I need to wear something to cover my ugly legs!

It's an indoor evening wedding in San FRancisco.

Thanks for any advice! I'm so much more comfortable in yoga pants and tees that I'm so clueless when it comes to all things fashion related, lol!

No leg coverings- passe, according to the moms on here. If it were winter you could do tights but not in the summer, even in SF. Plus, the dress lends itself more to bare legs anyway. Just shave, scrub and maybe try a self tanner.

A woman at my dh's h.s. reunion just last night was wearing that dress, btw! She kept it real simple. She had a cute red hand bag (not big, with a strap, not quite a clutch), and a simple diamond solitaire on a thin necklace. Nothing fancy. The dress has a lot of texture and dimension and doesn't really need much else.

These are some necklaces that could work too:

I'd skip a necklace maybe some cute earrings/statement bracelet (jewelry at Kohl's, Macy's is always on sale). I agree a splash of color for your purse is a great idea (purse doesn't have to match the shoes).

No hose, just some self tanner, which is great at hiding skin flaws.

That is a really pretty dress!

I agree with PPs. Keep jewelry at a minimal because you already have ruffles around the chest area. Any big necklace will make it too busy.

As for your legs, go bare. It's like a summer dress so no need for hose. Self tanner will definitely hide flaws.

Happy shopping!

I do have a simple diamond pendant that I might be able to wear with this, now that you mention it. I was just trying to buy some fun jewelry as I don't normal get necklaces. Just need to figure out if the chain is long enough as the cut is kinda low.

Hmm, any ideas for a bracelet?

Any recs on self tanner? My legs need all the help they can get, lol!

I almost linked this bracelet before but thought it''d be too much with the necklaces I linked. Simple diamong pendant opens up choices.

I've not had good luck with self tanner but I also didn't prep my legs well enough.

I like L'oreal sublime gel self tanner or they have a lotion as well.

Start ahead of time, go easy on the knees and ankles and you'll do fine.

Exfoliate and shave prior to application.

Yes, tanning cream and maybe a nice tall stack of think bangles and maybe a non black clutch would be really cute. Even if its cool I dont know if leg coverings should be worn with chiffon.

ITA w/pp's about going w/bare legs and self tanner. Also, I like the idea of earings and a bracelet. The Limited is a great place to shop for costume jewlery. Also, Nordstrom Rack.

:yeahthat: I vote no necklace, some drop earrings (saw various Givenchy drop earrings on Macy's website, would work really well) and a simple bracelet (maybe a diamond tennis bracelet if you have one).
