I guess I dont want to wear the sneaker/short typical tourister look. I want to look a little put together....

So I am looking for some comfy walking sandals or shoes, not too sporty, something I can wear with skirts and pants. But whatever I get I need them to be comfortable for all the walking of cobblestoned pathways through Italy.

I am considering

I think these are still sporty looking but more light weight that other merrells I have had before.

Which one is probably best to wear all day style and comfort wise?
Any other brands and recommendations?

I'd go for #1 just because I think that style will be the most comfortable, safe (over cobblestones, etc), and stylish. I think you'll want a heel strap which #2 doesn't have, and #3 doesn't look comfortable to me.

I agree #1 looks the most comfortable and the most practical. I don't think I would do #2 all day walking in Italy. And I'm just not that keen on #3.

Check out the UGG Mayla sandals. They are the most comfortable sandal I have ever worn and they look great with pretty much everything! I have them in black and brown.

There's that cotton ball again :ROTFLMAO:

Out of the ones you listed, OP, I agree w/pp's that #1 looks the most comfy and stylish. I think the back strap would give you more security from ankle twists. I wore briks all through Europe. The Gizeh is flattering, I think.

I'd go with #1, too. The wrapped toe on #3 would bug me and I'd fall out of #2 most likely. I would personally go with something slender but more sporty, I tend to like sturdy over attractive. But #1 seems like a nice compromise. Do you know if the soles are thick/cushy enough?

Totally jealous of your trip, by the way. :)

Like the style, not sure about the poof of sheepskin.

Hmm #1 is now looking a little boring, nothing fun about it very basic.

Maybe I should add a closed toe shoe a little casual-dressy type to the mix of shoes I am taking....

Was hoping to take only one pair...

Should I take regular sneakers too?

When I traveled overseas, including Italy, I wore black ballet-style flats the majority of the time. They're comfortable and can go with skirts, slacks, jeans, etc.

I bought a pair of munro's a couple years ago for a trip to nyc. The shoesalesman said he had outfitted everyone coming in for their europe trip shoes in Munros. I now have 3 different pairs and I LOVE them. I have the mary janes, which I wear with skirts, dresses, jeans, (a little weird with shorts, but you might be able to pull it off), and these sandals, which are beautiful, but maybe a little too high for all day walking...

I'm also loving the dansko's I just bought when i realized I didn't have any casual sandals, but they don't have a heel strap and you probably would want one:

You might check out Jambu sandals. My MIL swears by hers. She got them for a Europe trip last year.

I vote Birkenstocks - they give you the relevant support without marking you out as a tourist, or being frumpy. Love my Gizehs.

Like the style, not sure about the poof of sheepskin. You don't see the sheepskin when you have them on. It's just extra cushion for your heel. :)

I'd definitely take two pairs of shoes. Even just switching shoes halfway through the day can help since they press on different places. You probably aren't going to hide that you're a tourist, and I haven't known Italians to be all that super friendly anyway (much worse than French in my experience AND they tried to give us back incorrect change a few times). Take something a little nicer for skirts but take the most comfortable shoes you can find for the majority of your sight-seeing. My feet HURT after our trip to Venice and Rome, and I wore comfy sneakers the whole time. I'd also want to get any new shoes with plenty of time to wear them around town at home first and be sure you don't get blisters or pain.

Of course everyone who knows me will say that I'm more concerned with comfort than fashion so... whatever matters most to you.

I personally think Keens are God's gift to feet.
