If we don't have pets, do we need a dyson? Does anyone have the D33 (that handles carpet, wood, vinyl and tile)? I saw a new LG bagless at Sears. Does anyone have an LG? What do you think about it?

I'm not crazy about an oreck and I won't do a hoover or a kenmore this time. I need to use it on carpet, wood and a vinyl ceramic flooring. I vacuum at minimum once a week (whole house including under beds, open the windows and sliding glass doors and vacuum in the grooves, curtains--the whole nine yards. So, I need to take this thing up and down stairs a lot.

Also, do you like a canister vac or an upright better?

I might be in the minority, but I'm not in love with my Dyson. It's big and HEAVY. I don't use it as often as I should because it's so cumbersome.

I am currently borrowing a Miele canister vac to try that. So far, I like the idea and ease of a canister vac, but storing them is more difficult.

I'm curious to see if other posters will have some more recommendations.
