DS2 loves books...so far he loves Peek-a-who and the other Nina Laden books that are similar. I would love to get him some new ones for his upcoming birthday. Looking for some recommendations! Thanks.

DD loves the ones that have the eye holes in them and are masks as well as books. She also likes the My Peekaboo Fun books and the Happy Baby Colors books. She is getting really fond of the Sandra Boynton books (Moo Ba Lalala, The Going to Bed Book, The Belly Button Book etc.) and likes the small Dr. Suess books (Mr. Brown an Moo is her fave).

We love lift the flap books...any with thick cardboard flaps so they withstand the mangling! Otherwise Sandra Boyton books are out faves! Moo Ba LaLaLa and the Going to Bed Book!

Any/all of the Sandra Boynton books, especially Moo Baa La La La and Doggies. She also loved the Maisy lift the flap books - Where is Maisy? Where are Maisy's friends? etc.

My DD loved/loves "Baby Duck Gets Lost", a bunch of Sandra Boynton books (right now her top favorites are Barnyard Dance, Pajama Time, What's Wrong Little Pookie?), and "I Am a Bunny". Also, not a board book, but she adores a book called "I Took the Moon for a Walk". We often read it 5-6 times a day!

Karen Katz lift the flap books (i.e. Where is Baby's Belly Button)
The Very Hungry Catepillar
Animal Kisses/Peekaboo Kisses touch and feel books by Barney Saltzberg

My girl loves all Sandra Boyton books, all lift a flap books, all "That's not my ..." books, and the hungry caterpillar.

Her first favorites were the Bright Babies series of books with one picture and one word per page. We have: Colors, Animals, Trucks, and Words. Those were and are still a huge favorite.

Love all the suggestions...I am looking the ones we don't have up on Amazon. Funny about all the love for Sandra Boynton. We have tons of her books but they were never favorites with my older two. I'll have to pull some out and see what he thinks. Keep them coming!

DD1's 1st board book was "Put me in the zoo" by Robert Lopshire.

It was loved so much that we had to replace it. It became a favorite of DD2 and DD3 as well.

DD and I are big fans of books with built-in finger puppets.

She will "request" In My Tree, which is available on Amazon; there are a bunch in this series. This particular one has a little owl puppet. We also have In My Flower, which is a butterfly, but they have a mouse, a bear, a monkey, a dolphin and several more animals from which you may choose. (This is a link to the one with a bear, it's called In My Den: http://www.amazon.com/My-Den-Sara-Gillingham/dp/0811870537/ref=sr_1_4?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1311094394&sr=1-4)

We also like Little Bat and Little Giraffe, which are smaller and chunkier. (This is a link to the Giraffe one: http://www.amazon.com/Little-Giraffe-Finger-Puppet-Books/dp/0811867870/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1311094356&sr=1-1)

FWIW, DD also has Peek-a-Who and gets a kick out of it. She'll often "read" it to me, which is a whole 'nother kind of hilarious.

The very first faves were Brown Bear Brown Bear and Ten Little Ladybugs.

He still loves those, but more recent love additions are Mr Brown Can Moo, Barnyard Dance, I went Walking & Let's Go Visiting, The Wheels on the Bus, Freight Train (which I didn't like at first but he loves it because we point out each car color - red car, yellow car, green car etc), Where's Baby's Mommy/Pumpkin, Dear Zoo, What Does Baby Do (begin smart book), & Tumble Bumble.
He's always loved books and started out liking repetitive books the best. Now he loves books where he recognizes things (doorbell, wheels, door, bumblebee etc.)

Not really much love for the Boynton books here either:( But, both of mine enjoyed:

Time for Bed by Mem Fox

and Big Red Barn

Olivier Dunrea books (Peedie, Gossie & Gertie, etc).

I bought a few of these because I thought they were cute and my daughter has hated them from day one. She swatted them out of my hand before she could speak and then told me no once she could. I still like them!

DD's first favorite was "Where is Baby's Bellybutton" by Karen Katz. We have several of her books and DD loves them (They are lift the flap books.)

DD also loved several books from "Begin Smart". She really liked "What does Baby Say.".

We are also big Sandra Boynton fans!
