I posted a while ago about needing new work shoes. I did end up buying a pair of Merrell athletic flats at Nordstrom Rack. Kinda like these, only all black, slightly sportier and IMO more business-like:

Also, a badly needed pair of Tevas (the regular kind)...

...and a 2nd pair of leather Tevas, these:
http://www.amazon.com/Teva-Womens-Meadow-Luxe-Lifestyle/dp/B002KMIGQQ/ref=sr_1_7?s=shoes&ie=UTF8&qid=1311136605&sr=1-7

Ok, that was just me testing my linking ability! They were such a great clearanced deal that I couldn't resist. It's been years since I've bought new shoes.

Anyway, the problem is that the Merrells and that leather pair of Tevas have rough spots on the inside stitching. They rub a little bit, especially the Tevas. Do you have any suggestions that might soften them? The Teva stitching is in leather, the Merrells is more like plastic canvassy stuff. I'm thinking there's got to be something...

Take them to a shoemaker/cobbler?

If that's not an option, moleskin on your toes where they rub. Or those gel strips for strappy sandals ... I just bought an 8-pack to use on some cheap sandals I bought for DD to trash this summer. (The straps were cutting into her chubby little ankles, poor baby, so when she wore them, she ended up with cuts!)
