Random question: any idea where to find a cute slip that is not so grandma? Or is this not even possible ;)

I bought a super cute dress http://http://www1.bloomingdales.com/catalog/product/index.ognc?ID=541084&PseudoCat=se-xx-xx-xx.esn_results (http://www1.bloomingdales.com/catalog/product/index.ognc?ID=541084&PseudoCat=se-xx-xx-xx.esn_results) but as the description states, this baby is way un-lined. It's thin silk, and utterly sheer.

Has any one had something lined? I have no idea what that would cost, and don't use a tailor regularly. When I think of slips I think of the grandma ones my mom used to wear ...

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Get a beautiful spaghetti-strap slip to go under. You might have to pay a little more, but you can definitely get something you adore!

Try bloomies or nordies.

Good suggestion! There are some pretty slips out there. Even if you wanted a 1/2 slip, they have ones with wide lace bands. I actually don't really care what it looks like as long as it stops the see-through effect. Is the top sheer too?

The top doesn't seem as sheer, I think the ruffle helps. I wonder if I could find a slip with a built-in bra ... Hmm, off to check online!

They've got those, but they're often shaper undergarments and heavy on the Spandex. I've seen some at places like Kohl's.

Also, it's tough to get one that's not a full-torso shaper, so keep your eyes open.

YEah, the only full slips w/built in bra I've seen are the shaper kind.

How about these:

or instead of a shelf bra

Ooh, number 2 is super cute. Thanks for the link!!! I like the idea of not having to wear a bra/slip/dress. Seems like too much for a light summery dress! And I definitely don't want shaper pieces, ugh, too hot.
