Remind me again why this math curriculum is so weak?

I taught Everyday Math for years. If it's done properly, it's most certainly not weak. It's very different, and in my opinion, not the best option for students with limited English.

My son just finished 6th grade after having EM from Kindergarten on. His math skills are fine.

If the teacher doesn't truly adopt the philosophy and do it correctly, there will be gaps. He/she really has to "get" it to teach it properly.
