Thomas & friends anniversary set on Zulily

Hi all, I am new to Thomas & Friends, but I'd like to start a collection for DS.

I am thinking of getting this set (http://www.zulily.com/p/thomas-the-train.html) for DS or one of my nephews. Is it better to buy this set and buy tracks separately? or would you advise to buy a starter set that already include the trains?

I think that is a great deal for the trains - and a wonderful gift. There are many different companies that make wooden tracks and I got a ton of track (plus trains & bridges, etc.) from CL. I started with the Ikea figure 8 set for $15 - but I like their tracks the least.
