In honor of Arivecchi's fab boot collection (http://windsorpeak.com/vbulletin/showpost.php?p=3219082&postcount=20), here's a thread about boots!

Post your boot collection here! What's your favorite pair? How about a picture of an outfit you like to wear with boots? Any boots you are lusting after? Questions about boots?

Here's my boot collection, definitely not that big compared to others ;):
https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-ukypcd5lcDw/TjkV8crDoUI/AAAAAAAAATA/_fu3xTWXT5I/s640/P1130595.JPG
DH's snow boots from when he was a boy (I only use them when we go to the snow which is pretty rare)
Lowa hiking boots
Ugg brown ankle length boots
Aquatalia Noelle ankle length burgundy patent boots
Via Spiga Kacey knee length brown boots
Nine West knee length black boots
My favorite right now is probably the Via Spiga (http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/via-spiga-kacey-riding-boot/3172666) that I got from Nordstrom. That and the Aquatalia (from Amazon.com) are new.
I have a question though--I need some help from the boot experts. I can't seem to figure out what to wear with the Aquatalia boots and I feel like my legs are being chopped in half by the ankle boots. What are you supposed to wear with ankle boots? I pulled a few outfits out of my closet, but I'm not sure if they look right with the patent boots, or if the boots are wearable at work at all. I feel like the knee length boots work better with the skirts. And if I wear them with pants, you can't really see the boots because the pant legs are covering them up. Which pair of boots do you think look best with these outfits--the ankle boots or the knee high boots? If I can't find anything to wear with the ankle boots, I may return them and maybe even get knee high Aquatalia boots in the same color. BTW the red is very dark, almost purple in color so it's hard to wear with my bright red clothes. The boots are gorgeous, but I'm just not sure if I have anything to wear with them.

I think the long boots look better with the skirt.

I love shoes in general. It's like my hobby. I just donated my boots to Goodwill so now I'm looking for a pair. I always have difficulties looking for boots because I have big calves (I get them from my dad!) I have my measurements down:

shaft: 15"
circumference: 15.5"

Do you know where I can find boots with these measurements? I've checked out Frye but they are a bit out of my budget at the moment.

GP you are KILLING me!! I love all the boots!

Personally I am not a fan of the short-boots-with-skirt look. I know lots of people like it or shooties. But I can't handle it for some reason. So, I vote for all tall boots with skirts. ;)

I love the red ankle boots w/outfit #3. I would stick to pants with those bad-boys.

ohhh I can't wait to wear mine!!!

ETA: And how dare you post the VaVoom boots?? Now I'm drooling on the keyboard! OMG, love 'em!

SK, you kill me with your uber cool outfits! Love all of them!

Goldenpig, I only wear knee high boots with dressier short skirts and dresses. The proportions seem off to me otherwise. With your outfits, I also like the knee high black boot because it makes the outfit seem classier and more pulled together.

I do have a pair of calf-length tan Marc Jacobs boots that look awesome over dark tights so I do wear those to work sometimes with a drak grey or black outfit and they look nice. So I would perhps wear the shorter red boots with black tights and a black outfit so the boots really pop without clashing with the rest of the outfit.

thanks twinfoxes and arivecchi!

a, can you repost your boots? i totally missed that thread.

goldenpig, i love short boots with dresses and skirts and wear that look often, but i think with this particular outfit it looks more pulled together with the tall boots. very classy!

I have severe boot-envy due to ginormous calves.

I've seen many a tall boot that simply will NOT zip up my calf, typically resulting in a LOT of tears and cussing.

And an increased longing for a decent boot.

I am currently envying the following from DUO:

http://www.duoboots.com/products/boots/detail/calf_fitted_boots/genova/13/colour/1-black_leather/shoesize/41/calfwidth/R/variation/1/

http://www.duoboots.com/products/boots/detail/calf_fitted_boots/bay/356/colour/1-black_leather/shoesize/41/calfwidth/R/variation/1/

Unfortunately, I don't have the $$ to spend on them right now. (The 1st pair is $300 plus $20 shipping; the 2nd pair is $235 before shipping. :crying:)

I love boots too. I have some tall black born ones (motorcycle style...kind of), black Costco ugg knockoffs, brown baretrapp ellery, and some brown cowboy-ish ones from target (the ones eveyone was talking about last year.). Love everyone's fashion sense. I totally need a style makeover.

Love the Frye boots, elektra. Love all your outfits too, arivecchi. And scriptkitten, love the funky combos, you make it look so hip and effortless. Where did you get that frilly top that you wore with the Sam Edelman booties? And are you wearing it with jeans or leggings?

Unfortunately I think the Aquatalia boots are going back to Amazon. I think I much prefer knee high boots to ankle boots (I think you guys are right, the ankle boots look funny on me), so I may look into getting the Vavooms instead (but do you think they are too slutty looking though?).

I clearly have a lot of work to do on my wardrobe! I just went through my closet and I have zero scarves and zero belts (I used to have one, but had to donate it because it won't fit around my waist anymore :() And I need to get some skinny jeans and leggings so I can wear my boots over my pants because it just looks better that way (you rock that look, arivecchi!). The last time I wore leggings was when they were popular in the 80's and they had elastic waists, tapered legs and stirrups :jammin: so I am in dire need of fashion help. Where should I look for skinny jeans and leggings (any particular stores/brands?), and what things should I look for when buying them?

-tan uggs
-pink uggs
-black and grey rainboots
-brown flat riding boots-frye
-black suede flat knee high boots-I think Aerosoles or something like that
-Tan high heeled knee high boots-Nine West
-Black High heeled knee high boots-Nine West
-Black high heeled calf length booth-not sure
-Grey suede booties (ankle length)-local boutique

I feel like I'm missing some. I need to go upstairs and look but I'm too lazy. I'm going off memory.

I'm really jonesing for a pair of black leather knee high riding boots under $200. Any suggestions?

Starting last Fall, I'm starting to build up my boot collection. My old ones were too young looking for me and starting to not fit anymore since my feet grew slightly after DS.

I saw these at Nordies and the same day saw a salesgirl wear them with grey tights and a floral dress. I fell in love and waited for them to go on sale and snagged them up in a hurry. I got them towards the end of the season and only wore them once so far. They are really comfy and the calf is a lot looser than my other Miz Mooz boots. Grey Miz Mooz Shelley Knee Highs: http://www.amazon.com/Miz-Mooz-Womens-Shelley-Knee-High/dp/B003FP6MXQ/ref=sr_1_14?ie=UTF8&qid=1312412757&sr=8-14

I got these in Cognac last year. I get tons of compliments everytime I wear them. I was on amazon searching for the Shelley style but happened to see this one and it was super on sale. These are very fitted around my calf and pretty comfy as well. Miz Mooz Chacon in Cognac (the one pictured is brown): http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0023RRDMG

I got these black riding boots. So comfy and cute! My SIL saw them on me and immediately ordered a pair for herself. I was walking around the mall once and I think 3 separate people asked me about them. I think you would look totally cute in some leggings or skinny jeans!!

I just started getting into the leggings last year as I had lost some weight due to breastfeeding. I got some cheap ones from Kohls (from their Vera Wang brand). I wish they had the jeggings in my size as I really wanted to try those. I got a pair of skinny jeans, but really prefer the look of jeggings/leggins with my tall boots. On me, it's a much smoother look, as the jeans tend to wrinkle a bit around my knees.

I also bought some leggings from Banana Republic and Ann Taylor Loft. The Loft ones started to pill around the inner thighs. Banana Republic and Kohls ones have held up well.

If you want to wear ankle boots with your leggings, I heard that the leggings with stirrups on them are better so you don't have to constantly adjust and tuck the leggings back into your boots.

I love the boots, ladies, and SK and GP, you are rocking those outfits!

I am a shoe minimalist by comparison (gasp, do I belong here?). I have maybe three pairs of short boots, nothing fancy, your garden variety Uggs and an Aldo pair I haven't worn post babies. I can't seem to do any heel at all. I am looking for a pair of stylin' boots that are flat and comfy, mostly to wear with skirts and dresses in the CA winter.

Some thing like this Boden boot (in black):
http://www.bodenusa.com/en-US/Womens-Shoes-Boots/Flat-Boots/AZ134-NAV/Womens-Navy-Favourite-Boots.html

Or this, sigh, John Fluevog boot (which they don't have in my size, 8.5):
http://www.fluevog.com/code/?w%5B0%5D=gender%3Awomen&w%5B1%5D=attribute%3ABoot&p=35&pp=3&view=detail&colourID=188

I also love this Fluevog shortie boot:
http://www.fluevog.com/code/?w%5B0%5D=gender%3Awomen&w%5B1%5D=attribute%3ABoot&pp=3&view=detail&p=39&colourID=2862

Hmm, maybe this Tsubo boot:
http://www.amazon.com/TSUBO-Womens-II-Black-Camoflage/dp/B0052B2TL0/ref=sr_1_32?s=shoes&ie=UTF8&qid=1312436624&sr=1-32

So, to the boot-istas: I'm in the market for a black mid-calf boot, no heel, very comfy. Oh, and under $200. Any suggestions, let me know!

These are totally NOT flat, riding boots, but I've been eyeing them for awhile.

What do we think of these ones?

I :heartbeat: boots!! One of the perks of living in a cold climate. My boots are in the black hole of our storage closet. DH may attempt to clean it out this weekend I'll post pics if he does.

I've been wanting a pair of red cowboy boots forever and think I may pull the trigger this year. I found these online. Any thoughts?

I really like those. I've been looking for a wedge style boot...why oh why did I look at this thread! I have way too many boots and I live in So Cal so our boot season is short!

But back to your original question, which style would you wear more?

Those are lovely! :heartbeat:

What would you wear these with? Jeans or skirts? If you get them, would love to hear if they're comfortable....;)

The Lucchese boots are gorgeous! Can you order all 3 and return the ones you don't like?

OK guys, help me pick which Aquatalia boots to keep! I ordered the knee high Vavoom boots because I wasn't sure the ankle length boots were working for me because they look funny with knee length skirts and I wasn't sure I could wear them with anything I own. But now that the Vavooms are here, I'm not sure that they're any more wearable than the Noelle. All those zippers and knee high shiny boots make me feel like I need a leather catsuit and a whip to wear the Vavooms! :hysterical: Seriously, I can't wear these to work, can I?

DH certainly liked the long ones ;), although he thinks the shorter boots are more "practical". Which one do you think I should keep--the ankle length, the knee length, or return them both? Practical me says I shouldn't waste money on boots I can't wear to work, but secret fashionista me wants a pair of shiny red boots! (Oh, I should also mention that the long boots are more than twice as expensive as the short ones--$140 vs $345, if that makes any difference). But I don't mind paying extra if I'll get more use out of the more expensive pair.

1. I should know better. A boots thread on here got me in trouble last year. I used to have a rocking boot collection - pre-kids. Now I'm slowly rebuilding my entire wardrobe and cannot do more than one, maybe two big boot purchases a season right now.
2. How the heck to I keep missing pics of Arivecchi'??? I keep hearing how cute and fashionable she is and missing out!
3. I live in Chicago. Boots are one of the only good thing about winter. Now I am drooling!

Oh, don't worry... my secret plan is to ask you to meet me at Nordy's downtown after I'm about 15lbs and some serious toning down - who needs their personal shopping service? I have fashionable friends!

I just bought these in black at Nordstrom today.

http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/enzo-angiolini-saylem-riding-boot/3098009?cm_cat=datafeed&cm_ite=enzo_angiolini_'saylem'_riding_boot:300526&cm_pla=shoes:women:boots&cm_ven=Froogle&mr:referralID=NA&mr:trackingCode=BA99451F-7347-E011-B08E-001517B1882A

Much cheaper than the Frye boots I'm coveting. I'm hoping this will cure my black riding boot desire.

Only $150 and I had a $20 Nordstrom Note.

Nice boots LexyLou! Glad you found something you loved. Those look awesome! Post some pics of you with your new boots!

By the way, did you guys know about calf fit? Because I had no idea that boots had to fit the calf as well as the feet. After I read this You Look Fab article about calf fit (http://youlookfab.com/2008/10/27/knee-high-boots-must-fit-correctly-at-the-calf/), I ended up getting a different pair of chocolate brown boots because the riding boots I bought at Nordstrom were too big in the calf and too tall for me. Zappos has this search feature where you can filter their boots based on calf circumference and boot height, so I got these La Canadienne Galaxy boots instead (http://www.zappos.com/la-canadienne-galaxy-brown-suede):
http://a1.zassets.com/images/727/7278061/4974-328854-d.jpg
My calf circumference is 13.5 inches and I was told to look for 14 inch boot shaft for my height. And according to that article, boots should be no more than 1/4 inch larger than my calf.
Here, have a look at the difference:
Old boots:
Via Spiga Kacey: 14.5 inch circumference, 16 inch shaft height

New boots:

Love the Galaxy boots on you GP! Yeah, I'm a member of the YLF as well, and the ill-fitting boots advice made so much sense to me! Not helping that I have scrawny 12.5" calves and can't afford the high end boots that are usually on a more narrow side. I did manage to find a pair of beautiful cognac boots by miz mooz - those:
http://www.dnafootwear.com/product.asp?name=King-Knee-High-Boot---Brown&pfid=DNA05475
that are perfectly fitted over leggings and thin skinny jeans and can't wait till this fall to wear them again. Ordered a pair of burgundy boots (Miz Mooz too) and I hope they'll fit as well as the Kings. If not, I have another pair to try - and my winter boot arsenal will consist of brown, black and burgundy flat riding boots ;)

Blondflava, love the Miz Mooz boots! Post a pic of you in the boots! If you're 12.5 inches, how do they fit you (since the specs say they're 14 inches)--do they gap?

The long Aquatalia boots are a bit too big/tall for me as well, but so far I'm leaning towards keeping them because I like the color so much and they're shiny rain boots so maybe I can get away with a looser fit. Actually, the Galaxy boots above are also supposed to be waterproof, even though they're suede!

That's interesting about the boot height and calf size.

The Franco Sarto's I just bought are pretty high, right below the knee. Luckily I have long legs (34") and huge calves from working out and dancing.

Gotta tell you, the shiny red (wine?) boots are yummy and because the're rainboots, they look OK wider to my eye. Beautiful!
