Our camera is just about kaput and we need a new one for our upcoming trip!

I don't want to spend more than $200. I'd like a basic point and shoot, that takes nice pictures both indoors and out.

Any recommendations? A friend has a Nikon Coolpix S3000 and raves about it, but it seems to be an older model being phased out by the S3100, which doesn't have as good reviews.

Suggestions please!!!!! Thanks!

This is what you want. It is super awesome. I love mine so, so much. I also have a SLR but keep this little gem in my purse at all times. It also takes HD video.

The previous version of this camera, the SD1300, is on sale at my Costco this week for $119.99. I've been looking at it for a while, but the $20 off (normally 139.99) is pushing me to buy it for our vacation.

We have 2 Canon Powershoot (SD1200 and SD1300 IIRC), one for me and one for DD#1. Love them, worth every penny.

I was a huge Canon fan until I got my Panasonic Lumix FZ28, which is a bigger camera and it's over $200, but my point is that the menu on the Panasonic cameras is 10x easier to use than the Canon cameras. This one is on sale (http://www.costco.com/Browse/Product.aspx?Prodid=11629767&whse=BC&Ne=5000001+4000000&eCat=BC|90607|83&N=4047256%204294967278&Mo=5&No=1&Nr=P_CatalogName:BC&Ns=P_Price|1||P_SignDesc1&lang=en-US&Sp=C&hierPath=90607*83*87150*&topnav=) at Costco for $259 (after rebate) and it has good reviews.

My brother has this one (http://www.costco.com/Browse/Product.aspx?Prodid=11626957&whse=BC&Ne=5000001+4000000&eCat=BC|90607|83&N=4047256%204294906393&Mo=8&No=3&Nr=P_CatalogName:BC&Ns=P_Price|1||P_SignDesc1&lang=en-US&Sp=C&topnav=) (or the previous model, although this is pretty new model) from Fuji and he really likes it, it's _____ proof so it might be something to think about with kids.

Costco doesn't carry them but Olympus makes good point and shoot cameras; as does Sony (although I have no experience with them).

Thanks everyone for your suggestions! After doing a lot of research, I've decided on this one:

http://www.amazon.com/Canon-PowerShot-ELPH-100-HS/dp/B004J3V8UU/ref=sr_1_2?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1313203263&sr=1-2

I'm going to try it out and see how I like using it. There's also the model that's a step above it, but I'm not sure it's worth the extra $$$ for what I plan on using it for.
