Asbestos Removal: what to expect ?

Hello everyone,

Has anyone lived through asbestos abatement in their home ?
I would love to know how you selected an abatement company,
and what your experience was like, overall.

I am currently getting estimates on the removal of 1950's vinyl tiles
that tested positive for asbestos in our bathroom and in our bedroom closets.

Both companies we've talked to so far are certified by the state
to do asbestos removal, both have A+ ratings by the Better Business Bureau,
and both have good reviews on yelp.com and our local parents message board.

The larger of the two companies, though, has given us an estimate that is twice
as much as the other company, so I need to call them both and confirm exactly
what is included.

Any advice on what questions to ask them when I call up to discuss their estimates ?
Any tips on what to expect during the removal process itself ?

I'm usually pretty good about this kind of thing, but my emotions
are getting the best of me as I'm thinking about my family's health.

Do you have Craigslist in your area? I really like looking at Craigslist for reviews. No advise on the actual asbestos removal though.
