Which movie is less scary?

Smurfs or Poppers Penguins? Dd2 gets scared watching ScoobyDo and a relative wants to take dds to one of these today.

I asked DS, age 8, who has seen both of these in the last week. He says Smurfs would be scarier for a younger kid because of the bad guy who is after the Smurfs. He says the only "bad" part of Mr. Popper's Penguins is that one of the penguins bites.
