Feeling sorry for myself...

Update:
Thank you all. It's a better day. Greta was 6 months old when she died so I've known it would be a hard day for a long time. I'm off for a little retail therapy at the lululemon store that just opened at the mall.


Five years ago my mom's breast cancer came back for the third time. When she told me she said "I just need to beat it one more time. I want to walk Greta to school on her first day."

Well, today I walked Greta to the bus stop for her first day of Kindergarten. This must be what it feels like to have your heart ripped out of your chest.

I lost my father and understand your feelings. I try to talk about my father, especially when I am missing him like that. I feel so good when my children, who were infants when he died, bring him up. Tell your daughter how much her grandmother loved her and was excited for her to start school. Tell her grandma is with her when she goes off to school. It helps a lot.

Oh Carrie, I'm so sorry. What an exciting and bittersweet day for you. Today was bittersweet for me too. I get to see my mom's brothers and sisters about once a year. Today I explained to my older boys that they were meeting Grandma Judy's sister and brother. I brought some of my parents' clothes and shoes to her sisters and brothers to see if they wanted them. My mom died of breast cancer 6 years ago when I was pregnant with Cha cha.
