:yeahthat:

I love DD's Garnet Hill backpack and no one else had it at her school. It looks almost brand new.

DD1's backpack is from Vera Bradley (a popular brand for her age). Company Kids also has backpacks.

We got my dd one from Children's Place when she entered kindy. She is going into 2nd grad now and the backpack is in perfect condition, almost brand new. She uses it all summer on our many trips too. I can't believe how well it has held up. She's rough on things too. It was about $12 I think. They have regular sized ones and junior sized. We got the junior sized one, perfect for a young elementary aged kid. My poor dd though wants a new backpack so bad but it's hard to justify since it is in such good condition.

DS's is from REI - it's a Deuter. We got it 1.5 year ago and it is still in perfect condition. It's big enough to hold changes of clothes and his lunchbox and it buckles down. It also has a chest buckle so even if it is really full, he won't tip over :)

another option - Nordstrom Rack. DS picked out a nice, full-sized adidas backpack. The style he selected came w/ a full lifetime warranty card.

We have a nice REI one (the REI brand). Just got it so can't speak to the wear but DS loves it. The blue is really pretty and I think could work for a girl (but I personally find most of the pink/flowery designs on backpacks hideous and nauseating)

This is it.

We bought two from Kohls two years ago and they still look practically new. I'll try update with the brand later.

We got a custom one from here: http://www.etsy.com/shop/bratsacksbaby

We went with the rugged one, like here: http://www.etsy.com/transaction/55530496

She is amazing to work with, DS1 is thrilled. We've bought bags from her in the past and they hold up very well.

We bought DD's at Fred Meyers (Krogers). It's BONGO brand, heading into it's 3rd year of use, and looks just as good at the day we bought it. And it was $10, so if it didn't last, it wasn't going to be a big deal :)

Well, no...but we never had one so I suppose I wouldn't miss it. I just toss his Klean Kanteen in his backpack and off he goes.

I just hit the "buy" button on Garnet Hill - DD had her heart set on the Peace one but changed her mind at the last minute to Dots. Free shipping and free matching lunchbox, no tax, $29.95 shipped. I wanted to get LE but these got great reviews and were "cuter" by DD's standards.

I bought my two older boys backpacks from Children's Place two years ago and they are still in great shape. the only reason I am planning to get them new backpacks this year is that DS2 has the "junior" size and could use a slightly larger bag. Honestly, I think for the price it would be hard to find a better bag...unfortunately none of us love any of this year's designs.

Well if anyone is still looking for backpacks I thought I'd mention the Gap. They have had some cute designs (mostly girls, a couple of boys) and matching lunchboxes that are marked down.

ETA It looks like several reviewers are unhappy with the quality of these bags compared to last year and previous years. I'd check them out in person before making a purchase.

My absolute favorite brand of adult packs are Jansport, and Eddie Bauer, and I wish both of them made kids size packs, plus at least with Jansport they are easy to find, but alas we ended up with a Lands End pack and lunch box.

Costco has High Sierra backpacks for $16.99. They looked very nice.

My brother and I had High Sierra backpacks growing up (later part of elementary, and jr. high school) which we bought at Mervyns, they lasted at least a year or two.

Garnet Hill probably would've been our second choice. We probably would've gone with the dots one too. Hope she enjoys it:)

I love that backpack! I think it is the one pack that does not automatically come with carabiner attachments to the lunchbox; you may have to call them if you don't get the attachments and see if they'll send them to you.

what's the code for free shipping at Garnett Hill?

Free ship ended on Aug 9. But you could try calling and see if they'll make an exception since it ran for weeks and weeks! Free lunchbox promo ends Sept 6.

Hanna Andersson, Garnet Hill, Etsy (if it's for a Preschool age).
