Well since they have already been posted about I guess its time to start thinking about Advent Calendars. I know about The Lego ones http://shop.lego.com/en-US/LEGO-Star-Wars-Advent-Calendar-7958?c=Seasonal-Exclusive-Hard-to-Find-Items-ByCategory and http://shop.lego.com/en-US/LEGO-City-Advent-Calendar-7553?c=Seasonal-Exclusive-Hard-to-Find-Items-ByCategory and the Playmobil ones http://store.playmobilusa.com/on/demandware.store/Sites-US-Site/en_US/Search-Show?q=advent&Submit=Go . I just learned about the Imaginext ones http://www.fisher-price.com/fp.aspx?st=2515&e=product&pid=63383&toycat=keyword . I would love to find one for DD. She had the PM last year but I'm not in love with any of the ones for this years. Please post any advent calendars you find or know about it. This would be super helpful to me and hopefully to some others out there.

If you do a search for Advent Calendar on Amazon, a lot of others come up. I don't have a DD, but I noticed Polly Pocket and other girly ones there while I was seeing what else they had. (They also have sets from past years sometimes, and the Lego/Playmobil ones we've gotten have never been clearly dated on the package.)

Looks like Polly Pocket, My Little Pony, and Littlest Petshop all have girly ones.

My boys are getting the Lego Star Wars one. No contest there.

We do two :bag. I get a Lego or Playmobil one. We also have the PBK Advent House and put little slips of paper in the doors with activities (bake cookies, drive around to see the lights, donate a toy to toys for tots etc) each day. I had gotten the PBK one several years ago and it is reusable so I'm not giving that up, but we really enjoy the Lego and PM ones.

This is the PBK one I mentioned: http://www.potterybarnkids.com/products/house-advent-calendar-new/

Ones like the PBK one, I've seen less expensive ones at Christmas Tree Shops and Target, can also fit small toys/candy etc. The PBK one is not that deep so that's why we do the notes.

Last year I made DD an advent calendar. I followed the instructions here: http://www.filthwizardry.com/2008/12/homemade-advent-calendar.html

I filled them with Squinkies. She loved it!

I'll probably make another one for her this year.

HTHs.
