Amazon is selling the Ziploc XXL tote for less than $6 when you use S&S and promo code ZIPLOCMO. I don't have any of these but they seem like they would be very useful so I ordered 2.

I use them to put each kids' paperwork and art from school. I label for each year until I can sort, make photo book and toss them.

Which size do you find works well for this?

bumping because I'm curious, too. I don't know what to do with all the papers the kids bring home.

I've been looking for a good solution to store the out of season clothes I have been accumulating for DD:bag

Would this be good to use or should I look for more of a plastic type bin??

OK I had another thought. Does anyone use these in their suitcase?

What size would be best if I want to put each kid's clothes in one so we only have to use one giant suitcase - for a 2-3 day trip?

I get the Large which are about 15" x 15" so they hold oversize artwork and I can fit them into a filing bin.

I have and like them for that purpose. For my 1 and 3 years olds if it's summer clothes, I can fit about 5-7 days worth in a Large size bag (excluding shoes), winter or bulkier clothes would probably need an XL. The XXL bag is about the size of a big suitcase, I think it's around 2x3 feet (check amazon to be sure).

can we store outgrown clothes of kids in them for next kid (in our case, close to 3 years difference?), I wanted to try space bags for that but they seem expensive and heard you have to get vacuum out to open bag everytime to see etc and also they anyway get inflated so no use of space bags? people who have it, would these bags work for that?

I don't' have the totes and from reading the description it sounds like part of the top of those are mesh and it has a zippper which wouldn't be air tight so no, you probably would not be able to compact the totes. But it would work for the Big Bags, they are just really big ziploc bags which are pretty air tight if the bag is intact. You can fill it up and sit on it and squish all the air out and close or if you really want to get all the air out you can get out a shop vac and suck all the air out before closing to really compact it. My husband is done this before and it works pretty good.

I do think the XXL bags (not the tote) would work for clothes storage since it is airtight.

do the bags/totes need to be airtight to store clothes for a couple of years? is it necessary? or for that that matter even extra comforters/bedding storage. what happeens if air gets in? ty

They only have to be airtight if you want to compress them for storage or travel, like the space saver bags.

Otherwise I don't think it needs to be airtight just to store clothes, as long as they are stored in your home or some other climate controlled location.
