Do you give your DC a bedtime snack? And if so, what?

I answered "No, never," but I think we need to change our strategy. It honestly never occurred to me to do a bedtime snack for DD. We eat relatively late (like 7-ish) and she goes to bed around 9:30. She is notoriously difficult to get to sleep, wakes up once a night often and is up for the day early, and I am wondering if it could be because she is hungry. She does not typically clear her plate at dinner; she picks at it. Tonight we tried to get her in bed at 8:15 and she broke down at 8:45 saying she was hungry so I gave her some turkey, carrots and a glass of milk. She went right to bed after that.

Yes every night. Lately I have been giving DS parts of whatever he didn't eat for dinner as his before bed snack. My main goals for before bed snacks are: can be eaten quickly and with little mess (or at least less likely to be messy).

If they're hungry, they get a slice of cheese or a string cheese. Not exciting enough that they use it as a stalling technique, and I think the protein helps them feel full longer.

Yes. Every night. Dinner is at 5-5:30, so they're hungry again before bed. Usually we do fruit, yogurt, or ice cream.

If she's hungry I give her a peanut butter sandwich

DS1 no (he goes to be basically right after dinner -- with maybe 30-60 mins before bed).
DS2 usually. I give pistacios, left over dinner, slice of ham or turkey, slice of cheese and crackers, I try for protein. Sometimes PB&J

Never. I'm not opposed, but their bedtime is pretty much right after dinner.
