I am tryign to find a new blanket for my daughter. She is about to go from her crib to the toddler bed. I am ok with sheets as it is the same crib matress. But I am having a hard time finding a blanket. I don't want one of the licensed sets that feel like cardboard. Nor do I really want a comforter, just a nice soft blanket. The baby blanket we are using right now is just about too small and I don't see any around that are any bigger. Am I just not looking in the right place or searching the correct term of toddler blanket?
Thanks for your help......

PBK has some nice ones. I just ordered this one for preschool naps:

IME toddler blankets are REALLY hard to find, unless you get the full set. PBK was just a bit to pricey for me.
We had a friend put a boarder on pre-quilted blanket fabric from Wal-mart (the fabric "square" was a bit small for a crib/toddler bed). Otherwise, I was going to make DS (and still might) a tie fleece blanket in the right size. Even I can make that with my complete lack of sewing skills! :)
I think Company Kids sells toddler size bedding in seperates. If you have a Pottery Barn outlet near you....or can call one...........they sell PBK stuff, so you might pick up a deal there.....
I ended up making my own flat sheets..........just went to JoAnn and cut fabric (leaving room for an edge all the way around) and did a basic stitch.
I found a "throw" blanket at TJMaxx for her comforter...........it's a little big, but it gets the job done.

Check out the Aden + Anais dream blanket! We love ours. It's made out of 4 layers of muslin and is definitely warm (at least for NorCal winters). We actually have it in two patterns--giraffe and stars, and I have found that the one with orange and yellow stars has held up much better and is of better quality than the one in the giraffe pattern.

Do you think your toddler will wear a sleepsack? Mine still does, but the Early Walker version (they have older/bigger kid ones too) that have openings for her feet. I found them on Amazon.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions. We live in the middle of nowhere desert of New Mexico. So, local shopping is limited to Target and Walmart without a 3 hour drive.
I like the adan anias blankets too, but also don't really want to spend that much along with the PBK ones. I might look at the fabric store and see what I can find there. Didn't even think of that.....
We did do sleep sacks for a long time, but DD just doesn't want to wear them anymore. Wants a real blanket.
I thought of just putting in a throw blanket, with it being a little big, but was worried of her getting tangled up in it. She moves a lot at night.
Thanks again.

FWIW DS moves ALOT in his sleep, too. Last night when I went to bed his head was where his feet started out. This morning he'd managed to get himself 3/4 of the way back to where he stated. The blankets never seem to hinder him or cause him any trouble. He just throws them off or pushes them to one side. Not sure how much they're doing for keeping him warm....but that's why mom goes and covers him up before she goes to bed, when she wakes up to go potty, and when she gets up for work...:)

My toddler wants a blanket too even though he is in a sleep sack at night. I love the A+A swaddling blankets. I might have to try their Little Dreamer Blanket!

I monogrammed this blanket (throw size) for my boys. It has held up great and is the perfect size for a toddler bed. I tuck it in around the mattress and fold it down to show the monogram.

You could also make your own throw blanket with fleece from the fabric store....since it doesn't fray, you wouldn't "have" to finish the edges....or you could do this:http://www.allkindsofbabystuff.com/no_sew_fleece_blankets.html
it might be a little warm for the south though.......
If you're handy with a sewing machine you could make the ends of the sheet/blanket rounded like a fitted sheet, so it would be harder to pull it out and get twisted.
good luck!

Thanks ladies! I was going to just make my own, but eversave has shopzoolu.com certificates $50.00 for $25.00. You have to pay shipping, but I am now going to get an Aden & Anais dream blanket for half off!!!! Got my certificate yesterday, placed my order and they shipped same day. Will let you know how the blanket works. Thanks again for all your suggestions

The A+A dream blanket is an excellent choice. If you want to go even higher end, consider the pure linen and/or linen/cotton blend offerings from Brahms Mount. They do custom sizes as well. I have a few of their towels and blankets and they are top notch in quality and in workmanship.
