I'm a southerner to the core, but have had to hang my head in shame because I could not make fried chicken if my life had depended on it .... Until tonight! I channeled my inner Paula Deen and Pioneer Woman and out came some crispy, juicy fried chicken!

Deep frying in cast iron is one of those culinary skills that totally eludes me. I am not a native southerner but spent 5 years in NC. I can't seem to effectively deep fry anything in a dutch oven. I've only tried it a few times but I always fail miserably LOL. I can never seem to get the oil temp just right, no matter what I do. I bow down to your skill! :jammin:

My southern grandmother could deep-fry chicken into tasty, tender goodness. Me? I have to flash-fry and bake, or it's hard as a rock.
