I have a dining table and still look for chairs that match it. I got a good deal on the table from Pottery Barn.
http://www.potterybarn.com/products/kirkwood-dining-table/

I didn't get the chairs there as they aren't comfortable. The good ones aren't on sales and pricey.

What do you think about this Crate & Barrel chair with the table? It is a little bit lighter.

I am also thinking about the chair from Overstock in the same finish as the table's(Mahogany). However, it seems a lot of trouble if they aren't matched and I never bought anything from Overstock before.

The set will be used for kitchen table. Which one would you pick or else?
TIA!

I'm not a fan of the harsh lines of the vertical back chair with the round table. They just don't feel complementary to me. I'd choose the overstock version if it were me.

I like the chairs you picked, but feel like they might be too straight for the table which seems to have some curves - it is hard to tell from the pics.

I just looked at World Market online - these are on sale:

They might have the same problem though!

But I am terrible at this sort of thing!

I think these chairs would look terrific with your table.

Lots of pics of this style chair with different tables here:

I wouldn't buy any chair with a similar finish unless I was sure they were exact matches. I think it would look really odd if they were similar but didn't match 100%.

Sorry, but I don't love either of the chairs you picked with the table. They just seem to be completely different styles. If you want wood, try to find something with more curves, and maybe consider a painted finish so that you don't have to worry about matching the stain.

Personally I like chairs to be different than a table. I think it looks better than all being matching like a set. I'd look for some nice upholstered chairs (Restoration Hardware has some nice styles for ideas) or some cute painted red chairs.

I like the wicker chairs posted. Also, I think navy or green painted chairs would look fantastic. Upholstered would also look great but would be hard to keep clean.

Check Pier 1 too! I bought an oval pedestal table from Ethan Allen in a walnut finish and bought black chairs from pier 1 to go with it. It looks great!

ETA: something like this? http://www.pier1.com/Catalog/Furniture/tabid/981/CategoryId/971/ProductId/6559/ProductName/Dark-Brown-Curved-Back-Dining-Chair/Default.aspx

I agree with PPs that I'm not sure either style you linked to particularly flatters that table. I would either do something painted, like a rubbed black, so that you don't have to worry about matching, or something more stylistically in line with the table itself, given its rounded sides.

What about something like this:

I'd do either a black rubbed style chair or maybe something that has leather for durability for a kitchen table...... a painted chair may also work....

Love Boolady's rec above!

What type of problem are you referring to? I never got anything from the World Market before. Product quality?

I am so glad I asked. I like the table and the quality of the chair but they don't seem to fit well together. Dh said they looked fine. I thought about the woven chair but wasn't sure whether it would be comfortable/durable for kids. Thanks, ladies!

What about getting tripp trapps for the kids? More expensive but you might find them on craigslist and you can resell them if you want to later. I love that 4.5 year old DS can sit at the right level for the table and that he can ground his feet.

I agree with this and think these chairs would look good--their legs are similar to the legs of your table and the color of the seat may go with the color of your table (without having to match it exactly since there's not as much of the wood tone):

ETA that I also think that upholstered chairs would look really nice with the table but they're not as kid-friendly.

This link is what I like the best.

Incidentally, we have nearly that same table except ours has a 2nd leaf and the legs are slightly different. It is from Pottery Barn a few years ago. We have the Napoleon chairs with it, which we like but we were lucky enough to get it all barely used on Craigslist so the price was good. I agree with PP that the shape and style of the table requires some complementary chairs. I would avoid wicker with kids...easy to damage, hard to repair, vulnerable to spills. ;)

Which Napolean chairs do you have? The ones with the woven seat? Are they durable?

We were thinking about the Isabella which has the same type of seat.

Oh no, I meant the "too straight" problem. I have some World Market stuff and I think it has held up fine.

I do like some of the ones pps have posted.

The rush seats have been ok for us but I know some parents have had a hard time with them (spills, breaking). It helps that our older son was 5 when we got them and we have never had our tot sit in them (he has a Tripp trapp). We do find them very comfortable. 1 of the rush seats did break but that was not a rush problem, it was a frame of the rush seat support problem...let's just say my husband was not using it as intended, he jumped down from a ladder on to it. Pure moment of stupidity.
