We are looking for a wooden play kitchen for our 2 year olds birthday. I like these, though pricey. Christina's or Sylvie's...I like that they both have extra space beside the sink. Do we need the shelves on Sylvie's? Any other recommendations?

I like the first one better. I don't think the shelves are necessary. And after having a play kitchen in my house for almost a year, the thing I thank Santa most for is buying one that I can shove everything in (play food, play pots, etc) at the end of the night. :)

We have this one and have been happy. It comes in other colors.

I liked #1 better, too.

We were also looking for wood play kitchens and ended up with the Ikea one. It's not beautiful solid wood, but it looks great and is very stable. A benefit I hadn't considered was that the legs can adjust to three heights. This is now a fixture in our open-plan living room/kitchen, so I'm glad it can grow with our daughter.

Totally different style from the ones you picked, though. The simple modern Ikea style fits our decor nicely.

The only think I don't love about it is the plastic handles and faucet. The handles can easily be replaced with Ikea metal ones. The stove top doesn't look as plastic as I expected - it really looks like a flat top range, not plastic.

I love that Christina's Kitchen. It looks perfect for age 2, and great to grow with as well. We have the Educo kitchen and it's really nice for age 1-4.

Thanks guys! We actually are looking at all the others you mentioned too. My mom wanted us to get the pink retro which is adorable and comes with a fridge. Since our house is on the market, I wanted something that may blend. I like the Ikea one too since it is plain as well. Decisions, decisions...

:yeahthat: except I don't mind the plastic--it's fine for DS. The little hooks on the ikea kitchen are so cute. DH hung all of DS's coffee cups on them and it's adorable.

Speaking of the height adjustments, I need to adjust ours probably--been a while since I've done that.

is it starting to be time to talk about this again, woohoo! my favorite time of year ;)

we have the sylvie kitchen you linked and we love it....for us the shelves are nice because we have *quite* a collection of accessories , dishes, etc. and it's nice to have a little "display" that we can change up-- seasonally, interest, sometimes we put art or whatever on it :)

it's not a huge kitchen (like real kitchens , is their ever enough counter space? ;)) but it's big enough... my nearly 8 year old neice went home last year asking her grandma for a kitchen "like lucy's" ;) we also have the jacob's fridge. it holds alot of food, but not nearly all the food we have. we have to rotate that-- because we have so much. speaking of, it's time to remove anything that has to do with "ice cream" i'm afraid
