I'm looking for knee high brown boots. NOT western looking, not wear to work, can't be too tall...but a little heel is ok. a little moto vibe is ok...but not too much. I don't want them to be so basic they are boring.

They will primarily be worn with jeans. I want to spend less then $275.

Here are a couple I like...but no enough to pull the trigger

Have you looked on Piperlime? I started to pull links from there for you (high shaft boots, brown, $100-200 range [you can go higher if you want]).

Like this pair:

I :heartbeat: that first pair -- timeless. I don't like either pair with heels, I think boots with the higher stacked heels are trendy this year, but will pass next year. Plus, I don't need heels.

These ones are quite nice, I tried them on last year. http://www.aldoshoes.com/us/women/boots/knee-high-boots/75056623-prettner/22

I ended up with a different pair that fit my (extremely narrow) calves better. But I liked these enough that I am still considering them. :)

I love my Jillians.

I really like these in both brown and cognac, but I don't think they'd fit my wider calves:

ETA: Just realized they're not real leather, so not sure how they'd look/feel

You could also go with these Target standbys. I have them in gray and really like them. They've changed a bit this year (more narrow calf).

I like the anthro ones you linked to and the Aldo ones Melissa posted about.

Also love these by Camper:

If that's not a typo, the calf circumference seems really small at 12"--no way I could fit into those! Other riding boots typically have a calf circumference of 15".

What is your calf circumference and boot height that you need (should fall 1-3 inches below the knee cap)? What color brown are you looking for? Here's a few options...anything look good to you? I also like Arivecchi's Ugg Jillians.

Bandolino Cavanna in Cognac (http://www.zappos.com/bandolino-cavanna-cognac-leather)

Measure calf circumference? shaft height? shoe size? color? style? and have them be practical??
No wonder I don't have any great boots!

I do think after measuring the ones I ordered are going to be too tight. My calf was a 13 and the boots said they were 12.... So we'll see. On height I think I need 15 /16?
I wish I didn't need to order online, but other than Dillards, Belk and DSW I don't have any local options.

Thanks for taking the time to help. I really, really like the pair that snugglebuggles linked to and the Clara that goldenpig suggested. I actually own the Target ones in black and didn't want the same ones again. The Jillian's are cute but too warm (Average winter temp in the 60's) I like the style of the Camper ones LBW, but I think the brown is too dark for what I need. (Which is my hesitation on the Anthro ones). The others I think are just a bit too equestrian for this purchase. Thanks though!

GL!! I don't own boots either b/c my 13" calf circumference rules out a lot of boots except for the more pricey ones. I had people on here help me last year and it was so hard to find ones in my budget with a narrow calf. Keep me posted if you find anything that works for you, ok? I'll do the same. Sounds like we would be looking for close to the same thing,

Good luck! I have narrow calves too (13.25 inch) and most of the narrow boots are expensive for some reason.

How about these from Zappos:
Timberland Stratham Heights (http://www.zappos.com/timberland-stratham-heights-tall-boot-brown)
http://a1.zassets.com/images/z/1/5/5/1550034-p-DETAILED.jpg

or if you are a size 6 (looks like that's the only size available in this color), these Fryes are on sale for $226! Might be slightly wide on you but you may want to try these anyways if it is the right size (the other colors are more expensive but have more sizes available).
Frye Taylor Harness in Dark Brown (http://www.zappos.com/frye-taylor-harness-dark-brown-leather)
http://a2.zassets.com/images/z/1/1/6/1161971-p-DETAILED.jpg

Here's a couple from Nordstrom (free shipping and returns):
Matisse Foxtrot in Saddle (http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/matisse-foxtrot-boot/3199966?origin=category&resultback=1537) (it says 12 inch circumference but "stretches to fit wide calves" so maybe it's OK?)

Francisco Sarto Yonkers in Tmoro (http://shop.nordstrom.com/S/franco-sarto-yonkers-stretch-boot/3184924?origin=category&resultback=279)

Um, yeah, my calf circumference is 12.25". I believe there are approximately 4 options on Zappos for me to choose from. I either have to buy large, or not wear them. I choose the former.

My boots came from Nordstrom and I love them!
http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/matisse-wyatt-boot/3202803?origin=category&resultback=2633

They are narrow, but not tooooo for me. They updated the description to say circumference of 13 3/4 which I think is pretty accurate. They are going to work for me with jeans and skirts--yippee!

Thanks for all the help!
