Looking for non-flimsy and warm Halloween costumes

Are there any heavier/nicer Halloween costumes out there? It seems like everything available for DS1 is super thin and flimsy - not great for October in Chicago.

I love their costumes for our weather, and am always sad when DDs outgrow them (DD#2 will wear the monkey costume this year, a hand-me-down from DD#1.)

I love the options from PBK, too, but never want to spend that much.

Otherwise, superhero costumes work well layered over a thick winter coat, and seem to be the preferred choice of our neighborhood boys :).

I second the Old Navy costumes. The fleece works great for the cold weathers up north. And you can get them on sale for pretty good prices. I think last year I paid around $12 for DS2's costume.

Thanks all. DS1 is fairly tall so he no longer fits in toddler sizes at Old Navy. I think he wears 6-7 from ON. :(

How about one of these TCP costumes? FYI, at least the girl's costumes run a little small, so I would definitely size up and get a 7/8 for him. The astronaut one looks warm! They've been running one-day free ship and 15% off sale prices specials all month, but there doesn't seem to be one today.

As usual, you guys were right! While getting a costume for ds2 at ON, I checked the measurements of the 4T/5T costumes and they go up to 45" and 46 pounds (which must be higher than regular 5T because he no longer fits in regular 5T ON stuff), so I got him a couple of costumes there so he could pick. They are exactly what I was looking for. Thanks!
