DS1 hates jeans...he lives every year in sweats or those pull on pants from Target but now he's outgrown them. Target doesn't seem to carry
anything like that in the bigger boys section. Suggestions? I like that he could wear sweaters etc with the Target pants since they were like khakis and not sweat pants. TIA!

Check Sears, I saw some there that sound like they would suit your needs. I know it is an unpopular opinion, but I have had really good luck buying pants for my boys at sears. They seem to have a good selection of sizes, when other stores sell out of sizes quickly. Plus, sign up for their kidzvantage program.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I looked online at Sears and only saw one pair of pull on pants. I have to figure out where there's a Sears around here (we just moved!). The Lands End climbers look perfect but they are pricey (at least compared to the $4 Target pants he loves!!!). Do they go on sale much? I will definitely watch them. And I just got my first 30% off code from Kohls so I will check those out as well! I knew I would get good suggestions here.

My son's the same way, and we've had luck with the LE climber pants, but now am adding Kohls to my errands list this weekend to check out the Jumping Beans ones!

When it gets colder, we switch to elastic waist cords. I stocked up a few years ago at Talbots Kids and Rugged Bear (RIP both of them!) but worried about when my stash runs out!

He loves cords too so post if you find any elastic waist ones too!!! I'm still sad about Talbots Kids...they had the best boys underwear.

I KNOW! My skinny beanpole 5.5 yr old is still fitting into his size 3's and I hated seeing the size 2's go. I remember stocking up looong before potty training and thinking I was nuts for doing so, but really wished I'd bought about 4 more packs! I'd love to find who made them for Talbots, cause nothing I've tried comes even close.

My boys live in these every year from Gymboree:

http://www.gymboree.com/shop/dept_item.jsp?PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524445999897&FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374303840543&ASSORTMENT%3C%3East_id=1408474395917465&bmUID=1316100195545&productSizeSelected=0&fit_type=

They're so comfy with the lining, fit great, and can be found for $10-$13 at the Gymboree Outlet store if you have one nearby.

I just got some corduroys and twill pants from JCPenney: http://www.jcpenney.com/jcp/X6.aspx?GrpTyp=PRD&ItemID=1bfc431&DeptID=77863&CatID=77885&SO=0&SelDim=4%7e&x5view=1&NOffset=2&Ne=4+5+587+3+8+1031+18+904+949&N=4294940006+4294967022&Nao=0&PSO=0&bcCat=3&CmCatId=77863|77885

ETA: I sometimes find LE climbers at my local Sears Outlet... for under $10!

How do they run in the waist? I love Gymboree but sometimes their waistbands are too big for him...he's super skinny and long. He would love those though, and I just moved near an outlet that I'm yet to check out.

Boo! No Sears Outlets near me. :( That would be a great deal!

The waists are elastic and adjustable with the drawstring. DS1 is on the skinny side (not super skinny but lean) and they work for him but they also work for DS2, who has a little bigger belly. Both of my boys are tall.

I was at the outlet yesterday and bought a pair for DS1 that was $10 but for some reason that same style was marked as $13 on other pairs. Last year I paid $10 at the outlet.

ETA that I just looked again at the link I gave to gymboree and those pants say that they have mesh lining, which I wouldn't like as much. The pants I always buy (including yesterday) have a cotton knit lining--very soft and makes the pants nice for colder weather without being too warm.
