I'm intrigued and would love to hear more.

JBaxter, ChunkyNicksChunkyMom, anyone else have one? Please tell me how much you use it and what you like to make in it. I saw a manual with 40 recipes that comes with it mentioned on amazon. Any good recipes there?

What is the inside of it like? Any concerns about lead like with some of the slow cookers?

(I know some of these questions have been addressed in the slow cooker threads, but I thought that more specific attention to the multi cooker is warranted!)

For those interested, here's the link: http://www.amazon.com/Fagor-670040230-Stainless-Steel-6-Quart-Multi-Cooker/dp/B001A62O1G

ETA: Anyone have the Instant Pot version? It's made of stainless steel, which is appealling. http://www.amazon.com/Instant-Electric-Generation-Technology-Stainless/dp/B00479OWFO/ref=pd_sbs_k1

I got mine for Christmas and love it. The only bad thing is I think the pot is a teflon but I dont use metal in it so it isnt scratched.

I had some left over lamb shanks so I stripped the meat off added broth ( from when I cooked the shanks) potatoes onions carrots and frozen pees and had stew in 10 minutes.

I go in spurts but I cook all my root veggies in it ( 8 minutes for potatoes or carrots) and rice / rice dishes. I havent made boxed mac& cheese since I got the thing. Rissoto is a breeze DH loves my chicken marsala in it.

ChunkyNicksChunkyMom( Susan) had a different brand she returned for the fagor.

Stove top pressure cookers freak me out but the electric one is fine.
this is a yahoo group I belong to it talks a lot about pressure cookers & recipes. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/PressureCookerRecipes/?yguid=314093377

Fagor is a very reliable brand. I have a fagor stove top pressure cooker. It is idiot proof, so no worries about blowing it up. Seriously, these are not the old fashioned kinds that make lots of choo choo sounds as they cook. I too was scared of stove top pressure cookers, but had read that the newer ones are very different, and so tried it and I am a total novice, and have had no problems. In the pressure cooker world, fagor is a very highly regarded brand, it's been around for a while, but if you do not know anything about pressure cookers, you probably have not heard of the brand before.

Do NOT try the nesco electric pressure cooker. I got one two months ago, used it a few times and then it wouldn't come back up to pressure again. I had to return it to amazon, luckily, I kept the box. The only reason I wanted the nesco was that nesco and cuisinart elec pressure cookers are the only ones that go up to 15 psi, like stove top pressure cookers. Most other elec pressure cookers do not go up as high, and as you will learn, there are several pressure cooker recipe books that do not put the lower psi into consideration when it comes to cook time, so you will need to fiddle with the cook time if your elec pressure cooker uses a different psi. So, just something to think about. I ended up with a korean rice cooker that is also a pressure cooker, but it isn't as high of a psi as the nesco or cuisinart (those are the only two who come up to the same psi as a stove top model on amazon, I was going to get a cuisinart after my bad exp with nesco), but b/c I am in love with my rice cooker, I will suck it up and deal with is, esp since it cost me an arm and a leg, lol. I figure, mostly it will affect meats, and having to cook them longer than recipes call for if using a stove top pressure cooker recipe.

I have not had an issue with the 9psi. I know the stove top version has higher psi but I love pushing the buttons and having it start/ stop when its supposed to vs timing it on the stove

OK I just added the instant pot to my Amazon wish list. * minutes for potatoes?!?! That's awesome!!! Personally I would spend the higher price to avoid the non stick.

Bumping this up as I got one for my birthday!! I'm so excited and can't wait to use it. Does anyone have a favorite recipe or one that I should start with?
How are the recipes that came in the cookbook? I'm intrigued by the risotto recipe.

I used this on Friday and Saturday night. Results have been mixed. I think that it needs to cook a lot longer in this pressure cooker vs. the times posted in recipes i've used.

Fri - I made porcini mushroom risotto - http://www.epicurious.com/recipes/food/views/Porcini-Mushroom-Risotto-108603

It needed 10 minutes vs. the 4 in the recipe.

Sat - adapted PW's recipe: http://thepioneerwoman.com/cooking/2009/11/braised-short-ribs-heaven-on-a-plate/

Browned the short ribs first and then put in PC on high for 30 min - they weren't even close to being done. Next time I will try 60 min.

What psi is the unit you have? A big complaint is the a lot of Elec users is that the recipes are for stovetop cookers, so the time is different on the recipe.

It's this one:

I cooked it on high which is 9 psi.

Yeah, they tell you that meats will definitely take longer on the elec units, since the psi isn't as high as the stovetop cookers.
