alright, so did the Emmys just ruin Big Love for me?

So I was planning to start watching Big Love on Netflix soon, and in the Emmy drama montage of clips they show a clip of Bill Paxton telling Ginnifer Goodwin that he's going to prison because there marriage isn't legal? I am going to be soo bummed if that pretty much sums up the show now and I don't need to watch it because I was soo looking forward to it.
