Absolutely. I have used sour cream for up to a month or more after the expiry date. It lasts a pretty long time, IME. I only throw it out when it gets moldy.;)

ETA: Just reread and noticed it had been opened. I would not hesitate to use it. Should be fine. Not much happens to sour cream, as it already sour, KWIM?

I wouldn't, just because it's almost a month past the date. I would if it was a week or two though.

If it was sealed, I'd use it if it didn't seem off in taste/smell/texture....but I'd use if quickly after opening or cook with it.

:yeahthat: That is my policy for yogurt too....I think of it already spoiled before the expiration date...how much worse could it get?

People are really very paranoid on this board. :) If it isn't moldy or otherwise off, I wouldn't even question it regardless of date.

Open it, look at it, sniff it & stir it up to test texture. If it passes those tests, I'd say go for it.

i'd eat it, bc it's unopened (i think that makes a big difference).

I'm in the "sour cream and yogurt are already spoiled" camp as well ;)

I would use it if it looks and smells OK.

If you have any worries, use it in something cooked - like a sour cream coffee cake.
