OK, I don't actually store wet towels. But they tend to accumulate in piles on our bathroom floor and/or laundry room floor. I have mesh sorters for other laundry, but don't like the idea of piling up wet stuff next to dry stuff. I am tired of this system and it's really grossing me out to have these wet piles to step over all the time. For kitchen towels/rags, I have a plastic laundry basket with big holes so they at least have some air circulation. Then I try to wash that load every 3 days or so.

Options? Do you spread your dirty towels/rags out to dry somewhere?

I just hang ours on the shower curtain rod until they are dry and then launder them. If I have smaller damp items that need to be washed, I drape them on the side of the laundry hamper for a few hours and then add them to the pile.

ETA: We also have one of those retractable clotheslines, so if it's a sunny day I will sometimes hang damp/dirty items there to dry faster.

We have hooks in our bathrooms to hang wet towels. Once they are dry they get added to the laundry hamper.

I have an ikea dryer (http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/80189663/) that I use to hang kitchen linens on until they are dry.

Best thing ever!! double towel rack! http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002YK4YHE/ref=pd_lpo_k2_dp_sr_2?pf_rd_p=486539851&pf_rd_s=lpo-top-stripe-1&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=B00011XBEK&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=02HN5EM0SS1EB40RKY4D This is above the toilet in my tiny bathroom and it holds 2 wet towels. The rod in the back of the shower can hold another, plus an extra hook like this http://www.lowes.com/pd_320280-81227-79635-BN_4294765643_4294933768_?productId=3163895&Ns=p_product_prd_lis_ord_nbr|0||p_product_qty_sale s_dollar|1&pl=1&currentURL=%2Fpl_Misc%2BBath%2BHardware_4294765643 _4294933768_%3FNs%3Dp_product_prd_lis_ord_nbr|0||p _product_qty_sales_dollar|1&facetInfo= can hold another.

For wet kitchen rags, I'd never leave them in a basket (we don't have extra space like that anyway) but DH (who cleans the kitchen) hangs the really wet one on the oven door overnight and tosses it in the washer the next morning. The daily use ones hang up on 3M hooks on the side of a cabinet near the sink. Our undersink cabinets are locked, otherwise they'd live there.

Get yourself a small drying rack.
