Belt question

So, I keep seeing belts around sweaters, dresses, blouses, etc. I love belts, but I am so short waisted that they are literally at the bottom of my rib cage if I put them on my natural waist. Does anyone find that to be uncomfortable? I am also afraid they would "slip" lower and I would be re-adjusting all of the time as I am exiting the van, etc.

I haven't worn a belt much in a long time. But in my younger days, I wore them a bit lower if there were no loops. So the belt would ride right on top of my hip bones and not slip further. Not sure if that is too low to be fashionable now?
