What happens to my Kohl's Cash if I return the item(s) that I bought to earn the Kohl's Cash with originally?

(I bought a watch for my husband and got $20 Kohl's Cash with the purchase. He doesn't like the watch, so we're going to return it. Will they deduct the $20 from my refund amount or ???)

If you take a store credit, you get to keep your Kohls cash. If you ask for a credit on your credit card, they will take the Kohls cash off the top of the credit.
