Fresh chicken - how long will it keep in the fridge?

I picked up half a fresh chicken on Sunday morning. How long can I keep it in the fridge before it goes bad? Was going to cook it tonight but need a few ingredients. Can I wait to cook it tomorrow or do I need to run to the store now? TIA

Usually I keep it for a week. Its usually eaten up within a week. And I am talking about buying non-frozen boneless chicken breast at the grocery store...not sure if you are talking about a whole fresh chicken from a farm or something?

I only keep fresh chicken in the fridge for 3 days before using or freezing. But then again, I'm paranoid about these things.
