2 covered dish meals in 3 weeks, really?

Our church had its picnic (covered dish, they provide hotdogs/hamburgers) 2 weeks ago and then we were gone a Sunday camping and then I got an e-mail mid week that they were doing a covered dish meal this Sunday for pastor appreciation Sunday. Really? Couldn't we just have a cake and snack reception instead of my having to deal with bringing a ton of food to church and then picking the 2 low carb things on option to eat? Sigh. I don't mind the occasional covered dish meal but this is a little much!

See, our church never does them and I miss it. My home church growing up did them ALL the time and we loved it. Bringing sides is great if you get a whole meal, plus I love socializing.
