Last night I had a sharp pain right at the entrance of my vagina. It was sudden and then gone after like a second or two. I had in a few times last night. It's a really sharp strong pain and then gone, immediately.

I googled and came up with lightning crotch. That sounds EXACTLY like what I was having. The only thing is it seems like most people have it much later, I am only 10 weeks. Does anyone know what I am talking about? Just looking for a little confirmation that this weird pain is normal in the first trimester. Haven't had it since last night.

Oh yeah, I've had that in the past. I never knew it had such a fun name though :rotflmao:. I don't think you are having the "true" lightening crotch that I see online, where the baby is bumping against your cervix though, and the pain radiates downward. You're probably having nerve pain from things starting to stretch and grow inside.

THANK YOU! I was going a little nuts last night. I honestly wasn't that worried about it BUT I made the mistake of having a coffee at like 3 pm which I should have known better and could not sleep! You know how everything seems worse when you can't sleep? Anyway, thank you. I don't remember having it with the girls, but the internet did say you are more likely to feel it with subsequent pregnancies. Phew.

a lot of those quick, sharp pains are ligament pain. most pregnant women describe them as 'like a knife sticking up my vagina'. there's a common time frame at 8-12 weeks and then another at 20ish. so, painful but not harmful to you or the baby.

:yeahthat: I got them often. They hurt and are sort of shocking. Love the name!

Thanks guys. I should have just started a thread here lastight instead of googling. So glad it is normal! One of those (many) things that I wouldn't think twice about normally but when pregnant everything is scary!

I started getting round ligament pains in the last few days. Oh boy I didn't miss those!! And I'm not too happy that you brought up lightening crotch :wink2: I'm not looking forward to that either! I've noticed a lot of random pains down there lately, guess it's a good sign though!

FWIW, I tend to get this when I'm not pg too. So, sorry to say, it may return again someday.

Does "Lightning Crotch" sound like the world's greatest superhero name to anyone but me?

With DS1 I used to get a sudden sharp pain that felt like I was kicked in the crotch by a horse! I was further along than you though. Round ligament pain is super common, but tends to occur on one side and is more common if you get up too fast from a sitting or laying down position or when you cough or sneeze. It's usually a sharp stabbing pain. Fun times!!!

I think that is round ligament pain. I had it way earlier with my second pregnancy than my first.

Oh, I got that with my DS at around 13 weeks. It took my breath away, it really hurt! And it really felt like my cervix was being stabbed, and different from my round ligament pain that I had even earlier -- that was more like menstrual cramps for me. Happily, the "LC" went away after a week or so. I hope yours does, too!
