Holiday dress for photos on the beach?

I am thinking of picking up holiday dresses from Hanna and I'm not sure how they will look for holiday photos. We will be taking them on the beach if that matters. I was thinking these dresses for my girls:

I love the first dress. I think it is super cheerful and "holiday-ish," and the red would be really pretty against the light sand and blue water. I also like that it's more simple than the second and third ones you linked to, because as a general rule of thumb, more complicated clothing in pictures tends to draw the eye away from the face.

I'd go with the first one.

I'm not sure about the sweater dress on the beach. It would seem odd to my eye that someone is wearing a dress and (I assume) tights to the beach? The dresses are lovely (and I agree more simple is better for professional pictures), but consider the entire picture. Just a thought.

thanks for your input! yeah, tights on the beach would be weird and who knows, it could be warm here. i want something holiday-ish though and most things are long sleeve and dressy.

What about the red/white striped playdresses? You might also get some use out of them during the rest of the year (we have one from last year that looked great in xmas pics but then was fine with blue or brown leggings). If it's warm you could skip the tights.

They are very cute dresses, but this was my thought as well. I tend to do photos with holiday type clothes at a park/garden type setting. For the beach, I prefer more casual, cotton clothing in shades of white, khaki, blue/denim, gray or green.
