Slippery boot soles

I just got a pair of knit boots for DD at The Children's Place - they are adorable, but the sole seems like it would be slippery. Any suggestions for shoe sole "grips" that would help this problem? Otherwise I'll probably return them - but they are so cute that I want a way to fix them!

Growing up my mom always made up scrape our brand new party/dress shoes on concrete to "rough them up." It usually did the trick, but it would make them not returnable.
