Foam mat or something similar?

What would you put under this (http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=10942714&prodFindSrc=search#soldInStore) for indoor play? Unfortunately, it will be going on a tile floor (unavoidable). Are those foam mats safe? I vaguely recall some discussion here about them being toxic.

Yep, there were some concerns about possibly being toxic. Another country banned their sale or something like that IIRC.

Just googled and it is formamide that is a concern and apparently it isn't regulated in the US in baby products.

We don't own any and I haven't investigated this further other than what I briefly read when the story about these products broke. Apparently Skip Hop says they don't use formamide

I haven't looked into whether Skip Hop's claims are accurate. With respect to BPA and phthalates, in the past testing has revealed their presence in many toys labeled as BPA or phthalate free. Sometimes it is difficult to know when the labeling can and can't be trusted.
