Since we had a baby this year we hit our out of pocket max of $4k.
That means any other medical expenses we incur between now and 12/31/2011 will be covered at 100%.

Any doctors/appts i should make?

I just scheduled DH a vasectomy & consult.
And just scheduled DH & myself for dermatology full body scans.

Any other appts I should consider for ourselves or kids?
Might as well get my money's worth, right? :)

I'll be watching this thread since we'll hit our max in March next year when DC3 is born. Good idea on the dermatology! Gonna keep that in mind.

DH snores like a truck so he will be doing a sleep study next year. I can not wait.

are you at the age to need colonoscopies?

we're only 35 so i believe a mammogram & colonoscopy are out of the question if we want it covered until age 40 & 50 respectively. maybe i'm wrong...?

Any prescriptions you need. I met mine too, and just got some derm prescriptions, which will be no expense to me. I've been thinking of going back to get DS orthodics for his new shoes (he has ones for the shoes he's almost outgrown). Do you have/need an IUD?

Any neurology needs/issues? Many of those tests can be so expensive! Cardiologist? Endocrinologist?

My Gyn ordered a baseline mammogram for me at 35.... (and I had definitely not met my max OOP!)

Yes, baseline mammogram before 40 yo and yearly thereafter.

Sleep study if either of you snore, and chiropractor if it's covered.

:yeahthat: Same here. I was told to get in sometime between 35 &40 so they had a baseline. (I'm slack though & haven't made the appointment yet....)

My midwife wants me to get a baseline and I'm 36 (she wanted it last year). Then none until I'm 40. I scheduled one appointment then had to cancel and rescheduled and totally missed it. I need to set up one again.

Just FYI - Medical insurance does not cover routine eye exams, but if anyone in the family has medical eye problems, those issues are usually covered (need to bee seen by an ophthalmologist).

Medical eye problems may be things like structural problems with the eye, but sometimes can include eye exams used to rule out other health complaints. (DH once got his medical insurance to cover an eye exam due to headaches.) If you have a medical issue that could be eye-related, you can talk to your eye doctor to see is it's possible to get it covered under medical.

Amblyopia (lazy eye) and strabismus (eye turning) are common medical eye problem in children, so if you have concerns about those in your kids, it would be a good time to get that checked out.

DS has complicated eye problems and sees his eye doctor 4-6 times a year. His appointments are always covered by medical insurance.

Baseline mammogram at 35, then if OK, not again until 40, and then yearly after that.

Dermatologist for cancer review? Podiatrist for any issues?
Excuse spelling!

This would be a good time to have moles removed. I just paid
$350 to have a few moles removed.

Unfortunately I can't get the baseline mammo because I'm BF'ing. Bummer!
Thanks for all the suggestions.

Is mental health covered? You could go get some counseling if that is something you need/ want.

Wouldn't it cover eyes if you go to an opthalmologist? They're perfectly capable of a basic eye exam. It won't cover any lenses but I think it'd cover the exam.

What about a nutritionist? We saw one once, and it was really a good experience.

Sleep study! It's like a night at a hotel + 150 wires attached to you.
