Dream Catchers for boys...

DD (who is totally into native american culture) wants to give dream catchers to her 7, 10 and 12 y.o. boy cousins. Are 6" dream catchers an appropriate gift for boys of this age?

i would think 'yes'! maybe with leather and non-fluffy feathers and other 'masculine' touches? and how nice of her to think of this!

DS is 7 and I think he'd like one. I'd go with earth tones if using dyed feathers.

DS has a hanging, it's a wood cutout of horses, with green, white and brown feathers and beads hanging down, that is similar in feel to a dream catcher. He saw it in my room and asked if I would put it in his room. DS has had one since 4yo. He likes it. I just asked and he told me "sometimes it doesn't work, and a dream gets through. I just throw it at the dream catcher" he is nearly 7 yo.

My (almost) 7 year old has one and he definitely thinks it's cool.

FYI, make sure they are okay with the idea of dreamcatchers before giving them as gifts. When I taught first grade we were studying thanksgiving and we found out about a charity home for children run by/for native Americans (can't remember the details, it was 8 years ago). Anyhow we asked the kids to earn $1 at home and donate it to the charity and in return the harity sent us a while box of keychain dreamcatchers. I had parents calling and complaining to the principal that we were promoting voodoo religion the next day. :rolleye0014:

DS is 5 and really, really wants one. I have yet to find one I like, but they do have them w/neutral colors. Should I be looking on ETsy?
