Thank you everyone for the much-needed hugs. Looking forward to Monday when I can start calling around for a therapist. Looks like my company has an EAP so I will be using that (and thanks for the BBBer in another thread who suggested looking into EAP - I had no idea such a thing existed!).

If you can get your co's EAP number, they might be available on the weekends, to start the ball rolling. I know DH's EAP is.

I wonder if it's an October thing - days getting shorter, change of season, etc. Because October has basically sucked and I just said I can't wait for it to be OVER.

Thank you all...this evening I feel better. That's kind of how it's been for the past year - I'll have a really rough couple of days and then completely feel better for a while, thinking that I've overcome whatever it was without outside help but then it just cycles downward again. I think that's part of why I keep putting off actually looking for a therapist. It is exhausting to have these emotional swings! I just need to bite the bullet and make some phone calls tomorrow.

a similar thing was happening to me a few months ago. :hug: every time i thought i might have PPD and should look for professional help (counseling, getting on anti-depressants) i'd feel a little better and put it off.

i think when it started affecting my sleep i finally bit the bullet and contacted a therapist. i've been going for a couple months just once a week and it has helped tremendously. actually i think i already started to feel a bit better right after making an initial appointment, because i felt like i was actually doing *something* to make things better, and was more control of the situation, if that makes any sense.

anyway, hope tomorrow you can get something set up, and you start feeling better soon! :hug:

Thank you for this - I'm glad to know that this isn't unusual and that you got great results just from starting to see a therapist. I thought we had an EAP but turns out we don't have one this year - but it will be available next year. Trying to decide if I'm OK to wait until January because I don't want to have to switch therapists...
