Regular blender. I don't even know what a stick one is!

(Does anyone think A's going to walk away from this thread with a Vitamix??) I'm not a fan of my BBB cuisinart combo (http://www.amazon.com/Cuisinart-BFP-703-SmartPower-Blender-Processor/dp/B00004S9CI). WAY too loud.

LOL. My first thought was a Vitamix until I saw the budget. I have to say, the thing is quite impressive. I never thought I would ever think of getting one but I was really, really tempted when I saw a demo.

I have the same Cusinart. It's okay for the hand full of times I used it in the past 5 years. We make our smoothies in the bullet.

We have an Osterizer we like a lot, let me see if I can find a link.

Ok here it is! In your price range too, and prime eligible.

No Vitamix for me! We don't use the blender that much. :)

I recommend the Kitchenaid one, on Amazon here:
http://www.amazon.com/KitchenAid-KSB560MC-5-Speed-Polycarbonate-Metallic/dp/B000CSRKI0/ref=sr_1_2?s=kitchen&ie=UTF8&qid=1320433238&sr=1-2

The way they designed the bottom is key--w/ most blenders the pitcher/vessel narrows at the bottom, in order to snap into the base. This means you end up with a recess that stuff gets stuck in (or sometimes the blades are down in the recess, and they don't hit all the food properly). With this one the bottom of the pitcher is totally flat and goes around the base, so you don't have those issues.

I agree with YouAreTheFocus. I really like my kitchen aid blender and the jar is about 10 oz bigger than most blenders which is key for me
