Does anyone have experience with XBOX kinect with younger kids?

We already have a Wii with plenty of games, but this gets very little play. This could be my fault for not asking DS if he wants me to set it up for him to play. Mainly, he will just play with DS. Lately, he has been asking for an Xbox; I think he got the idea from a friend of his. Would this system and it's games be too old for him? I kind of glanced at amazon to see what games they carried for this system and none of them looked young child-friendly (no Mario, Kirby, etc.).

Any feedback would be much appreciated. TRU has a $50 gift card with purchase this weekend.

I don't know how old your DS is. I'm not sure what site you were looking at for games for the xbox, but it's VERY kid friendly!! We recently even bought a smaller controller for my DD1 to be able to play better/easier.

We've had every system in the world, bought and sold a Wii twice, and still come back to the xbox. We also have a PS3 we mainly use for blue ray movies. Although DH occasionally plays games on it.

Right now my 5 year old daughter loves several games on the xbox/Kinect. She has been playing Madagascar whenever I let her and she asks to play it daily. She loves Kinectanimals in the Kinect, as well as some of the sports oriented games. My DH much prefers to play games on the xbox vs PS3 (or Wii).

We only have Kinectimals and I have Dance Central for the Kinect, DH is the only one who plays the Xbox 360 with the controllers. I think the system is really kid-friendly and we like it better than the wii (we sold our wii), although it is still behind on games, IMO. My girls do like to play Kinectimals and I love Dance Central. I really like that there are no controls and I think it is really good about reading your movements.

I have a 10 yr old and a 6 yr old who both love the Xbox. It was DHs gaming system but has been taken over by the kids!

The Kinect is AWESOME and blows the Wii outta the water!

Kinect adventures, kinect sports, Kinectimals are all great games

The boys recently got a new game Skylanders Spyro's adventure and it is really neat. Has a platform and individual small statues that you can interchange in the game by placing them onto the platform(portal). It is really cool. check it out! My 10 year old is really into video games and is quite good at playing them. My 6 year old was most into the Kinect but is all about Skylanders now... loves this game and it's great that my boys can play together!
