Patrick's not quite ready to start potty training yet, but I figured it wouldn't hurt to get him used to the seat. After doing a lot of reading, my husband and I have decided to use a toilet seat insert in place of the potty. My outdated (2009) version of Baby Bargains recommends the Contoured Cushie Tushie, the First Years Soft Trainer, and the Flip-n-Flush.
Anyone familiar with any of these or have another you would recommend?

Cushie Tushie. My son loved this seat insert but hated the Bjorn one. We love the Bjorn potty though.

We have the Primo 4-in-1 trainer (http://www.amazon.com/Toilet-Trainer-Stool-White-Pastel/dp/B000BXKTMA). You can use it as a potty and as a step stool/insert set. We like it a lot! :love-retry:

It's sort of an expensive solution but DD1 feels very secure on it and we needed a new toilet seat anyway.

Another vote for the bjorn insert!! It's great since it is adjustable and we have both regular and elongated toilet seats in our house. I tried another brand but it was too wobbly. We also liked the bjorn 2 piece floor potty and the fisher price frog potty. If you get the insert make sure you get a stool for their feet.
