DD will 20 months at Christmas and we do both Christmas and Hannukah:

Santa: An indoor/outdoor plastic slide
Us Hannukah: A bjorn potty, a mercer mayer potty book, an elmo potty DVD
Us Christmas: New born bath toys, the Born lady bug pod bath toy holder, a bath visor to keep water out of her eyes
Stocking Stuffers: A new brush, new tooth brush, a little owl change purse (she is obsessed with owls), socks with Elmo on them, a small wooden car, "If You Give a Mouse a Cookie...", dried fruit.

From family, she is also getting:
MiL & FIL: A play kitchen, M&D Stacking train and M&D Chunky Puzzle
My Parents: Play Food, a zip/snap dolly and something I can't remember right now
My Sister: A dolly and a stroller
SIL: Some books, read a-long books with CDs, and plates for the play kitchen

That is all that I know of. I'm sure there will be more because MIL always gets out of control even though we tell her that DD has tons of stuff and doesn't need all of this. ETA: I remembered the third thing my mom bought, it is Mother Goose blocks

We are also doing Leappads for our almost 6 yo dds. I hope they aren't too old!

Not sure what else. A couple of princess dolls, snap circuits and a board game (need to look in my closet). I think Santa will do a lot of fun art supplies that I don't usually buy - think glitter and confetti and the craft tape dispenser someone posted a while back.

oh yeah, and they want scooters.

They kind of reissued and updated Alphie.

I've been waiting for them to revamp The Little Professor, though that's probably considered low-tech for today's munchkins ... *sigh*

OK, so time for me to participate!

DD (21 months at Christmas):

Already purchased:
* Thomas Wooden Railway Starter Set (Got from TRU for Black Friday)
* Basic box of Duplos (71 pieces? On sale at TRU for Black Friday)

Still to get:
* Playsilks
* Toy Fire Engine (need to decide wood or plastic; I prefer wood, but DH wants to give this so he'll get whatever he finds)
* Books
* Slippers (?)
* Schleich animals (I lean towards dinosaurs, but not sure)

DN1 (9 y/o)

To get:
* The Ordinary Princess by M.M. Kaye
* A Little Princess or The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett
* Funky outfit pieces from Boden (their 25% sale is still good 'til Friday, no?)

DN2 (7 y/o)

No idea. This is the kid who's labeled "the quiet one" ... she's a wonderful kid, I just have no idea what she's into. (For her birthday, I got her one of those "find it" tubes. IDK if it was well-received or not.)

I'm wondering if it would be OK to give each of them a small iTunes gift card as they both have iPod Touch devices, but I'd rather clear it with my BIL & SIL first.

Can anyone with girls in the 7-10 y/o set recommend your daughters' favorite craft kits?

My younger niece is 7 and SIL said craft kits would be something she'd enjoy.

I'm a putz when it comes to craft kits, so I was wondering if there's anything that's "hot" for kids in that age-range?

Apparently, glitter is a big deal (I point-blank asked if SIL minded & she kind of sighed resignedly and said she couldn't stop the influx from school friends, so ...)

I was looking at friendship bracelet kits from Magic Cabin/HearthSong, which might be too difficult, and I did get a suggestion of a potholder loom (which I'll get from Magic Cabin with extra loops, though I'm thinking that I should maybe get 2 so DN1 won't insist that DN2 "share" it with her; I'd really like to get DN2 something that's JUST hers, KWIM?), but I really need more suggestions.

Not hot, but dd, age 7, is getting a latch hook kit (but now I'm worried the "kit" doesn't come with the hook!). http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_i_2_10?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=latch+hook+kits+for+kids&sprefix=Latch+hook

She recently did some sticky mosaics, which I loved because it didn't require my assistance. :)

For just about 6yo DD, for birthday and holidays from us and grandparents and aunts and uncles:

barbie dollhouse
ken doll
magic kit
book on how the world was made
tinker toys (maybe)
snap circuits
necklace
book where you can put makeup on the faces
couple of stuffed animals
socks
headbands
barbie doctor kit (that I expect will be used more for her animals!)
more books/coloring books/colored pencils
journal
microphone
chocolate (really, she'd be probably happy with just chocolate and a stuffed animal...)

WOW, that seems like a lot. But it is split amongst a lot of people for 3 different occasions!

I know my in-laws are super generous and are going to go crazy (they buy both big stuff and all the Disney Princess stuff DD1 adores), so DH and I try to keep it simple. I also buy for my parents and haven't figured out their gift yet. I hope Amazon Gold Box deals will come through for me again like last year!

DD1 (5 years old):
Plush princess throne chair (B&N deal)
2 personalized Little Heroes books (Mamapedia deal)
Pink automoblox car (leftover from Amazon Gold Box deal last year)
Playmobil set (TJMaxx)
tickets to the Nutcracker (Google offer)

DD2 (2 years old):
Small Ladybug Wheely Bug (thanks to the yoyo.com sale!)
Melissa & Doug sushi set (leftover from Amazon Gold Box deal last year)
Playmobil set (TJMaxx)
Crayola marker set (leftover from the Staples deal earlier this year)

My BFF growing up did latch-hook ... I never understood the appeal.

The sticky mosaics are a good tip, too. I saw some in Old Navy that I liked for her younger brother, so maybe I was thinking they were for littler kids?
