I need a crock pot for the days we're home at 6pm, so dinner is already done.

We're gone for 9 hours, so I want to be able to throw something in and it be ready - or something that's super fast to make a meal once get home.

I want one big enough to do a chicken or a roast. It's just 3 of us, but I'll use leftovers for later that week or freeze.

I've never used a crockpot or pressure cooker, so I need recipes too.

Thanks so much.

I have a Cuisinart and it's okay, but if I were to do it again, I'd get the one recommended by Cook's Illustrated:

http://www.amazon.com/Crock-Pot-SCVT650-PS-2-Quart-Programmable-Stainless/dp/B001KVZTFO/

Then I'd get the Cook's Illustrated slow cooker cookbook:

http://www.amazon.com/Cooker-Revolution-Editors-Americas-Kitchen/dp/1933615699/

Their slow cooker recipes are the best I've ever tried.

Thank you, thank you.....that one was at the store and I was tossing up between that and what I got. So I went back and exchanged it today. I'll get the cookbook too.

I just got a crock pot for the same reason, and now I'm obsessively gathering recipes. Found an interesting blog -- the woman cooked with a crock pot every day for a year. Lots of recipes & tips... http://crockpot365.blogspot.com/

That cookbook looks tasty! I'm adding it to my wishlist.

I really want that slow cooker, but I simply can't justify it when mine is perfectly functional. But you never know, terrible accidents can befall a slow cooker.:innocent:
