Would like a trouser cut so I would wear to work and on weekends. Cannot do skinny.

Did you try the Pilcro Anthro cords on sale? I wear mine to work with heeled boots and they look nice. They are $59 now.

If I were buying full price, I'd look at vince or 7 for all mankind:

They are not online. Are they in store?

Yes, the State St. store still has a bunch of them in the sale rack. I bought navy blue and dark green and really like them.

I have those Anthropologie ones too and really like them. They are a tiny bit short on me but if you are not over 5'8, then that won't be a problem.
I also like my Kut from the Kloth ones I got at Nordstrom. I got a skinny style to wear with tall boots but I really like the fit. I might check out some of their trouser/flare styles too.

I was going to recommend Kut from Kloth as well. They are often on sale btw.

Not 5'8! Thanks ladies, I will try to get to State Street tomorrow.

BTW, I sized up. I am now wearing size 2-4 pants, but the size 6 Pilcro cords fit great. Take a shoe with a heel with you so you get the full effect of the elongated leg.

OK, I am going to be a minor voice of dissent on the Anthro cords. First, they don't look and feel like cords, more velvety than cord-like. But they are a trouser cut, which is what you're looking for, so they might be right for you.

I mostly like the cords, don't get me wrong. But two things don't work for me - the waist height and figuring out what to pair with that high waist. I didn't realize just how high the waist was, or that it would drive me nuts! Sometimes I feel like a grandpa with my pants up to my chest when I wear them (I have a short torso). I'm exaggerating, because of course they are stylish and make your legs look long. The feel of pants at my belly button gets really annoying after a couple of hours of wear. Maybe I am the only one who feels this way. As my posts on these boards will attest, I am comfort driven and sensory/sensitive, so YMMV.

Do yourself a favor and spend some time in them before buying. I was propelled by the Anthro thread to dash to the store on a rainy day, baby in tow, grab a bunch of things off the rack, try them on for 2 minutes and run out of the store with whatever looked halfway decent on me (the cords and a top which has turned out to be itchy!). I had the cords altered by a seamstress the next day, so those are staying, but I did return the itchy/stylish top.

I should add that I've gotten compliments when I've worn the cords (in casual settings). I have the Navy in a 4, and I am about a 2 in brands like AT.

I think I might learn to love the cords with the right top, so I would appreciate (non Anthro) suggestions for what to wear with the Pilcro pants - what length/style and *how* to wear tops with them. I'm not used to the tucked in shirt look with such high waisted pants, and with a short torso I didn't like the way I looked with a shirt tucked in. But it's a cute 50s look if you can pull it off.

OP, I own some Gap cords I love (sexy boot, I think)

IME (I have a crazy amount of cord pants :bag), the Anthro cords feel like most nicer cords which are softer, more substantial and velvety. The cut may not be for everyone though because of the tab waist and flared leg. I have long legs so the cut works for me.

Hope you have good luck with them OP! They're a good buy! If not, my fave cords are from tahari and theory, but they are much more spendy. Have never tried gap. I also have LE canvas cords which are not my fave in terms of fit or quality.

For those who like to try on locally and without higher end stores like Nordstroms nearby, try JC Penneys....I love their St.John's Bay cords, I'm very short and fit very well and wash and hold up very nicely, and you can't beat the price...usually 21.99.

I have the flap pocket and regular pocket, I think they are more bootcut than the picture shows.

Old Navy Sweetheart cords. Surprisingly nice fit & quality. Bootcut, though. Modern look. Natural rise waist (not too low or high). True to size. Looks nice with a modest heel. At $30 each, price is right.

I love the Talbots cords I got at TJMax/Marshalls (3 colors) for 14.99. I think they were last year's bootcut version. I got pine green, apple green, and teal. I would've loved to have found the red, but feel lucky to have gotten what I did. I can't do a super wide bootcut b/c I'm rather short w/thicker legs. These cords have a bootcut, but slim leg and make my legs look really long (with wedge clogs).

I've also seen cords at ATL (but they were OOS so I couldn't try on). I love cords.
